I just hope Quarians are cybernetic so look like a fusion of organic and synthetic parts to give off a unique appeal. Their faces, partly skin, partly metallic, some parts expressionless, some lifelike, so to make the whole construction of Geth more symbolic as a whole. Not saying Quarian faces should look like Geth faces but they should be less human...part of why it's odd a human would find their faces curious enough to look at because there isn't too much you can relate.

I like the idea of cyborg Quarians, like the rumors that are passed around in the first one.

Then again, I'm biased on anything cyborg like. :bandit:

Judging by the way the Mass Effect Galaxy lore is saturated in many areas it appears so few people have ever seen an unmasked Quarian enough to have a distribution of their features or some have but it's been classified. Remember Shepard is a top Alliance, Citadel, and Cerberus Operative. Even he doesn't know until Tali shows. This goes to state just how much incredible faith she puts in him not to just go out and say "Holy sh** you will not believe what I saw!" and spoil it to Emily Wong.

Be honest if you saw her the last thing she'd want is for you to ramble on about it.

Come on, except for the eyes glowing, there exactly like humans.  The skin is only a dark purple and ridged, wich isn't even that alien.  The only major thing I see is the nose wich isn't even that bad.

Again, human-shaped is not the same as human-like.  The eyes are not human at all, and do not come across that way to someone looking at the picture for the first time.  Whether you want to say they're similar or not to human eyes is one thing, the fact that they appear very alien is what matters.  The skin is clearly meant to be alien as well.  Just because humans have a layer of skin around their face doesn't mean any alien skin is human-like.  That skin is as opposite of human as you can get before you start using scales.

There are 4 features on this face that I judge by.  The eyes, the skin, the nose and the mouth.  Out of those 4, three are alien.  The only human feature being the smallest one doesn't help the human-like appearance argument.

I fail to see how the eyes are "alien" except for the glowing part.  The skin is purple, its like saying the black man is alien because his skin is a different color and the nose we agree on, its alien.

It's a matter of perception.  The person viewing the picture (or at least just me) notices the glowing eyes and thinks alien before looking closely at the shape and thinking human.  The glow distorts how you look at the rest of the eye.  Even if they do end up being the same size as human eyes, they don't look like that at first, since human eyes appear smaller.

As far as skin, its more the ridges for me than the color.  I'm fine with any color Bioware wants to go with, they can pretty much justify anything.  The ridges are what makes it alien for me.  They are very pronounced, and completely destroy the human-like appearance of a smooth face, similar to the way scales do.

I guess that makes sence, different people, different tastes I guess.  Lets just agree to disagree on the subject because I still dont get the major alien feel out of it.

I don't think anything like that is supported anywhere.  I don't have the Ascension description on me, but it doesn't mention anything bizarre like that.  I see a stretch of imagination that far to be unlikely.

This, too.  There's no mention at all of cybernetics in Ascension (despite multiple mentions in ME2: Harbinger, Quarian Machinist).

I find it extremely unlikely that the galaxy/Shepard doesn't know what quarians look like.  Quarians, the internet, and photography have been around for hundreds of years before the start of ME1.  No picture ever leaked in that time?  no possible way there isn't photographic evidence of quarians going around.  We would obviously have no idea what Tali looked like, but quarians wouldn't be a mystery.  Or at least it would have to be a pretty BS explanation.

I agree, it would have been nearly impossible for the entire race to hide there faces with the current setting.

I have to say that would be out of debate. It's not like in reality, where you fall in love with someone and can deal with certain spots of bother because personality makes up everything.

But this is a game, it's after all a visual experience and Tali looking like this would not please our eyes

Well, I assume Harbinger knows what he's talking about, and the Quarian Machinist thing actually has a health-boosting game mechanic, so there seems to be something to it.  But I doubt it's particularly overt or invasive.

Sadly, its the one disconnect between the player and Shepard.  One of the main reasons I think they'll show us Tali's face in the third game.  Its a huge hole from a role playing perspective.

They might have created audio-channels in their enviro-suits and played around with the settings rather than attain some legitimate cultural changes by living on different parts of the Flotilla. I mean this makes sense if they all sounded the same when growing up, went on a Pilgrimage, shifted their dialect to be more presentable to those around, then came back and had it stuck: perhaps it's a subtle part of their rite-of-passage to have a uniqueness to their voices too.

You have to remember that after Project Lazarus, Shepard is partly cybernetic. If Tali, and Quarians in general, are, as Harbinger comments, "cybernetically augmented" it doesn't necessarily mean it'll be noticable like a... metal nose or anything.
