has anyone noticed that we have NO chance against the old machines?!! In ME1, it took many

many ships to take down sovereign and it was just ONE old machine. In ME2, there are a MILLION reapers ready to kick ass at the end. sure we could win, we just need 100000 death stars and 10000000 alliance/geth/council ships!

Yes, which means that they were not bugs before.

but when you   find the excavated prothean artifact it flashes a ME1-esque vision in your head which ends with an image of a collector

Turians are sentient, and are not bugs.

Collectors are sentient. They drive ships, they use weaponry, advanced weaponry at that. They're like the Rachni, people didn't understand them. So they wiped them out.
