Hey everyone, how's everything going.
To try to get back on topic, how do you think the Quarians lived on their homeworld before being driven from the geth? Like their culture, or what kind of things they wore...

That's a good question. All I can really do is guess. If I was going to compare their culture to anyone, It'd probably be Chinese culture for a number of reasons:
1. Majority of population doesn't have an actual religion, but instead follows philosophy and has great value in ancestry. I would guess this should relate to Confucianism, and I wouldn't be suprised if they had something similar.
2. Based on clothing, I would suppose their attire on their homeworld would be similar in an elegant way, like with silk.
3.  Has Present day issues with population, much like China does.
4. Great importance of productivity of themselves, like with traditional China. Most of China's history was focused on staying independent from the rest of the world. I believe this is best examplified in the Pilgrimage, where even though they leave thier own origins, they are determined to improve their own society.

That's just a couple of guesses though, I could bring in other cultures into the equation but All i have off the top of my head is Chinese culture from their history and present-day status. Just wanted to contribute to the conversation. IMO, Quarian society reflects Eastern culture rather than Western

Here's some interesting numbers (from MS word):

I'm on page 2 of my government essay (it'll end up at probably 14)

I'm on page 4 of my fanfic (it'll probably end up around 8)

I've got my priorities straight. Image IPB

The religion bit is interesting.  Before the geth uprising they literally could talk to their ancestors, or at least their ancestors' recorded memories.  I'd think each home would have a little shrine where family members could access their forefathers.

However important family or ancestry is, though, they're not quite as devoted as they could be.  For instance, their given names still come before their clan names.  Compare this to the krogan (Urdnot Wrex, Urdnot Grunt) or even the Japanese.  Even salarians are shown to treasure actual recorded lineages more.

In ME1, as you go through Feros you come across some sort of Geth Shrine. I would guess they got this idea from the Quarians, know that you mention the shrines in the first paragraph

According to one of the wikia entries, the ancestors' VI's were accessable from any extranet terminal.  So, I guess their shrine was their computer.  hmmm, that hits me close to home...

But you also find that Shrine on an uncharted world where an engineering/research team got turned into husks. According to the dialog from your squadmates it happened due to alien technology not because of the Geth so I would say those shrines are from Sovereign and do not reflect on a possible connection to the religion of the Quarians that was kind of adopted by the Geth.

I'd forgotten about that.  Very good point.  It really does seem like the geth are still really hung up about their creators from what we learn in ME2.

Those are still some really interesting analyzations... I like their architecture, highly protective, could this mean they had a lot of internal conflicts, like wars? Could also put an emphasis on privacy, hence their opaque helmets, like you suggested earlier.

The architecture part I can understand as privacy-related. The helmet part though would indicate that Quarians wore enviromental suits even before being driven off world. Pre-geth version of this may be shrouds or some other concealment of the face, like in Middle Eastern countries (maybe)
