Yeah, but Mass Effect is already a very lucrative property, and videogame movies have a history of failing in a legendary fashion.  It's a big risk.

My thoughts exactly.

The entire main theme of Mass Effect is that it is your story. You play as if you're Commander Shepard, you step into his shoes and make the major decisions. Having a Mass Effect movie would force them to make one canon playthrough and follow through with that one. I would watch the movie, and probably enjoy it, but it would detract from the feel that the ME universe is mine.

I agree. From a serious standpoint, I think a movie similar to the Animatrix or Halo Legends would be GREAT for ME. Think about it.

You could do a collection of short, stylized stories, and with the lore in Mass Effect being as massive as it is, the potential is limitless. The Geth Uprising, The Krogan Rebellions, The First Contact War, a short story detailing any one of these, done properly, would be amazing.

Or they could show us the stories we've always wanted to see. Wrex vs. Aleena(Aria?), Garrus's rise as Archangel, Legion's hunt for Shepard and the eventual aquisition of his armor. Saren's involvement in the First Contact War, or at the very least, his brother's and how it turned Saren into the monster he became, or Anderson being one of the first N7 graduates. The list goes on and on. I personally, would LOVE to see something along these lines, bringing some of the best characters, the best storytellers, and combining them with some of the best animators in the world, and the result could be something very special indeed.

Now we're talking.

ME has some excellent backstory that can most definitely be flushed out. The First Contact War in particular would be an excellent starter story for anybody just coming into the ME universe.

With a proper budget and solid directing, I would support something like that.

I'm still nervous that it would become a real piece of **** like most video game movies are though, so I wouldn't truly support any ME film unless it had excellent credentials.

I agree. If you haven't seen the Animatrix, maybe you should give it a glance the next time you get a chance. The art direction was superb, with teams of the best animators in the world working on each individual story. Each chapter had a unique feel, and yet they all felt "right" for the universe and story they were portraying. I think with the right people doing the art and animating, and Bioware keeping a tight reign on the storytelling, there's potential for something profitable, artistic, and something to be cherished by any fan of the series. It would be a do or die setup. They'd either hit it out of the ballpark, or fail miserably.

Bioware rarely fails.

Indeed.  A mediocre game by Bioware standards is top-notch compared to the market as a whole.

Ya, though its fair also to say that the some of the more recent "game movies" are all made by Uwe Boll *spits* curse that name *spits* and most if not all of the stuff he makes are CRAP!  Avatar with all its CG and stuff cost about US$300 mil. Kinda hard to think that EA / Backers will come up with that much for a "game movie". We'll see.

You better hope Brady is injured...

I actually have generally good feelings about Chicago sports teams, although I'm still cranky about the Bears gift-wrapping the Super Bowl and handing it to the Colts a few years ago.  The Cubs are pretty much the only team I would be okay with the Red Sox losing to in the postseason.  Not so fond of the Bulls, but that's probably just residual hatred towards Jordan.

Yeah, that was just so beautiful.  I have nothing but hatred for that dopey, overrated douchebag.  Any good QB could put up fantastic stats if they had the caliber of receivers that Manning's had for his entire career.  He's a pampered, money-grubbing louse, and I love watching him lose when it matters.

We had a huge topic about the geth and the quarians today. How would you feel about Liz Sroka playing Tali in the movie?

They might have to CG the character while Liz do the voice.

Oh, come visit New England, we're everywhere.  Manning's had the most precious, highly-paid and talented corps of receivers in the history of the game, bar none.  The Colts are built around maximizing Manning's contributions, and that reflects in his stats.  Not to mention that, after the Pats humiliated him and the rest of the Colts offense in the 2003 AFC Championship game, Bill Polian b*tched until the NFL changed the rules on receiver contact.  Seriously.  The next year, Manning broke Marino's TD record.  Coincidence?  Umm... no.

Meanwhile, Belichick and the Pats philosophy on offense was always "so, we've got Brady, right?  Okay, just throw him some crappy players and we'll get to work on building the defense."  In his entire career, Brady has only had a good running back for one season (Corey Dillon in 2004).  His receivers were dreadful until they finally brought in Moss and Welker in 2008.  And what happened when Brady finally had some reliable guys to throw to?  He broke Manning's TD record.  Throw in the 3 Championships and the perfect regular season and I would posit that anyone who argues that Manning is the best current QB is batsh*t insane.

Omgf has mass effect really picked up that much momentum? I hope they don't make a movie before they make the 3rd game. That could ruin things. because people that never played the first two games may be expecting them to follow the movie line instead of the game line and a whole other mess of problems can arrive from it. Plus the movie might follow a cinematic view and we don't always take the paragon role in the game. we make other choices too. so many things could go wrong. On a brighter note it could be the next starwars? o.O popularity wise of course.

Yea i thought so too. so i googled it. apparently project director Casey Hudson told MTV there is a huge interest in making a ME movie and they have gotten a lot of offers but nothing at all is in the works. Besides that. if they do end up making a movie IF!! I would hope they wouldn't try to cover the whole story in one movie. that would be suck-ish lol i hope they would pace their selves like lucas did with his movies only, i hope they aren't long as hell like starwars <_<

Yes, I remember the rule change. Manning looked like (I wonder what the benefit of having Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, and Dallas Clark is <_<)a QB god after that. Then showed us what he really is in the first round. I wouldn't even call Corey Dillon's season that great. Troy Brown was a good receiver, but nowhere near  the top of the talent. Not to mention Manning didn't play four quarters, yes. But he played 10 games (AT LEAST) in a dome. Brady played I think three games at max in a dome that year.. He is in the top five for passer rating, and has one of the best regular season records as a starter. Dude is clutch and there's no one I'd rather have in a clutch situation in either the regular season or the playoffs.  I'll take Brady's 14-4 playoff record over Manning's 8-9. The closest one that comes to his caliber is Kurt Warner (who is a postseason ****ing wizard 9-4 with the most incredible stats across each game (minus his final one where he got hurt).

Tbh, just do paragon shep, **** make it all CGI for all I care. As long as the story is depicted spot on, then I'm fine. Yeah, ME is an RPG, but I think that the choices are made by your character per say, they aren't making a "David Shepard" or "Nick Shepard" movie. It's John Shepard, the paragon, heart of courage hero who rises from ashes to save the Galaxy. Now the argument is "well, my shepard is a hot moma who was renegade!", yeah that's cool, but that's your Shepard. Not John Shepard. Yeah I can play as John and go completley renegade, but for some reason, it doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel like it fits the story. People like those who make the hard, but right decisions. Someone who we look up to and strive to be, and thats what feel the true John Shepard is.

Who would be the LI? I dunno, probably Tali since all of the support she has and from popular opinion she has the better story and is also considered cannon. Why is that? She confeses her love for you, of how she always loved you. No other character has done that. And personally, it's a better story, a girl who's wanted this man and dreamed of him since the day she met him, but thought she couldn't have him for she was in a suit another species, etc. That's something that moves people, something people can relate to. Unless you can relate to boning a crazy chick who shoots blue energy out her ass.

Would it cause people to throw a sh!t fit? Of course, every movie about a game/book does. It's about pleasing the general fans and audience.
