I dunno. I may sound like an EA hater but, I don't trust EA ... ever since they got there hands on Bioware..I just wanna weep.
I think it is silly to assume that EA has much at all to do with game design.
Bioware was a very successful company -- it isn't as if EA just took them over and are calling all the shots now. I don't know if you're aware of this, but my understanding is that the heads of Bioware now retain a major amount of EA stock and retain the authority to make decisions about Bioware. EA just wanted in on their profits. Since they are an incredible successful developer, the heads of Bioware likely had a lot of leverage in getting to decide what sort of power they have.
People always moan and groan whenever a company they like gets bought. Sometimes this is with good reason, but sometimes it seems as if fans abandon the company even if they don't change simply because they assume that everything will be worse and that the purchasing company is now running everything. Consequently, every little thing they don't like becomes "See! EA is ruining them! Bioware sold out, waaaah!", even if, in reality, it was entirely Bioware's decision.
Bioware is still the great bunch of minds it was before. Sure they share profits with EA now, and they probably make use of EA's resources, but EA is still not a developer. They're a publisher with the good business sense to try and acquire one of the most, perhaps
the most, successful developing house in the entire gaming biz right now.
