QFT, and great justice.

Ashley definitely got a bad rap after ME1. I defended her constantly every time people started the whole anti Ashley argument. Then ME2 comes around and punishes me for it by making her completely unlikable. <_<

Virmire was more of a "Oh come on! I don't wanna choose" rather than an "Oh no, not what's-their-face!"
Either I choose the one that can fight but I loathe or the one that can't fight but I appreciate.
Thank god they didn't pull that in ME2,
"Now choose, Tali or Garrus!"...

The decision that had to be made on Virmire was probably the single most debilitating decision I've faced in a computer game up to that point. At the time I was romancing Ashley (I still think she gets a bad rap that's not entirely deserved from many posters,) while Alenko had become a friendly comrade. I was genuinely torn. Ultimately I opted to save my love/lover at the time.
If I had to choose between Tali and Garrus it would be a no-brainer for me. Tali by a country mile.

It really sucks because she had such a down home girl thing going on with her family, and the story about her sister and stuff...
And then Horizon happens and its like..."Well fine. Screw you too."

I have to protest (!). I played through once as a... Colonist and found the "I Remember Me" mission surprisingly moving. Make that ASTONISHINGLY moving. I found myself choking up, and thinking "This is a VIDEO GAME!!! I'm getting emotional over a VIDEO GAME!!!". It really was an achievement, IMO.Phil725 wrote...
Nothing about ME1 was emotional and heartfelt. ME2 was so much better at being emotional that they shouldn't even be compared. There are at least 10 scenes more emotional in ME2 than the most emotional one in ME1 (Which I would personally vote is the Virmire choice.)
I do agree that there are more emotional moments in ME2 - although many of them are only possible because of the foundation set by ME1.
Rachni Queen's message: "This is AWESOME!!!"
Conrad Werner (again): "This is AWESOME!!!"
Bereaved Asari broker: "OMG! I 'MET' those people! ... This is AWESOME!!!" (And, surprisingly moving.)
(To tell you the truth, I've played ME1 so many times I've forgotten if/how I felt about the Virmire choice... It was probably a little ...wrenching the first time through.)

A fair point, though her follow up e-mail after Horizon does much to calm the waters left in the wake of that confrontation, IMO. I still like Ashley though I do not regret falling for Tali. That said I do not exactly relish having to hurt either one of them in ME3 if what BioWare has hinted at comes to pass.

My money is on her being a major instigater of the Geth conflict in 3. Either right or wrong.
Interesting thought, what if Rael and Xen actually did create a program that rewrote the Geth to be loyal? Not a virus that wrecks them but a program that allows them to integrate together?
Hm. That would raise a two-part moral dilemma for me. First of all, the true Geth do not appear to be mindlessly aggressive if Legion's commentary is accurate. Quite the contrary; based upon Legion's descriptions the Geth may in fact be amongst the most tolerant and enlightened sapient factions in known galactic society (quite ironic yet possibly fitting given their history and synthetic status). Secondly, I don't trust Xen's machinations further than I could throw her which probably isn't all that far. The thought of her, or anyone else for that matter (including humanity), having unhindered access to a synthetic army possibly numbering in the billions makes me uneasy.

Good, a Tali v. Liara throwdown will be good only to make sure that Liara gets put in her place. Nothing against her but I've got Tali's back.

I'm not worried, I'm sure I'll have enough Paragon/Renegade saved up to force a threesome.
*That was a joke*
I didn't romance anyone in ME1 so I've skipped that entire episode which makes me a bit sad but really I don't like the ME1 LI's enough to bother setting up the confrontation. It would just be an excuse to pick Tali again and I'm not that shallow(best word I could think up to fit that description).

Part of me is like Ashley/Liara/Tali catfight, awesome! The outher part of me remembers that someone said the game thinks that you romaced Ashley or Liara in the first game no matter what and goes aw crap.

Not sure. It's been mentioned by BioWare in some interview or other that there will be potentially uncomfortable consequences for the players that romanced one LI in ME1 and switched to a different LI in ME2 come ME3.
