Got a question for you all. I may get a lot of flak for this but I think it begs questioning. Would it have been better if the relationship between Tali an Shep stayed sort of "platonic" (apologies if im using the term incorrectly). Wouldn't it be more fulfilling than just a quick one night stand? What you think?

That's actually the reason why I'm retroactively happy that Tali wasn't an LI in ME1.  Those all came across as flings/one night stands to me.  What Tali and Shep have now is a lot deeper than that.  Whether or not they have sex (a little late for that either way,) isn't really important to the overall relationship.

I think there are  reasons why sex in a way is the focus of Tali's romance in ME2. It's a lot more than just sex involved really. Tali is at first  more or less resigned to never have a chance of ever getting her hearts desire because she is trapped in her suit. It is so important to Tali then that Shepard shows her he is willing to put up with all the problems involved to be with her also physically, and at least briefly let her escape the prison of her suit.

I definitely agree that sex is a lot bigger deal in that relationship than any of the others.  That said, if Tali didn't find a way before the ending of ME2, I don't feel like there relationship would be any different.  They would still care about each other just as much.

I agree very much. My point was simply to point out that even if you could technically read the romance with Tali as simply being a case of trying to get into bed, it's in reality so much more involved. The important thing isn't that they have sex, but that Shepard is willing to try and make their relationship work, also physically.

Slight issue with the above statements. Assumtion is that no sex equals platonic. Incorrect. Level of intimacy too deep for platonic.

Not 100% sure on that. It's likely they are somewhat reflective, but not emitting light.

It would be hard to reflect that much light going across the mask in both directions. Id conclude that they are glowy in some fashion.

Doesn't reflect all light. You can see part of the way through. But I'd rather not talk about this.

No, I mean they don't make sense biologically.  It would impair vision, probably to the point of blindness.

I think that the glowing eyes behind the visor were just to make Tali and the other Quarians more expressive, I don't think they will glow that way when she takes the visor off.

= alians are not exactly like humans look  light may blind them if looked into directly some other species if look at light directly will not harm vision

I like the one without glowing eyes the most, but lets face it, Tali is a goau'ld. Can't get around it really.

Suggest that Creator-Tali'Zorah's eyes are simular to organics that have a tapetum lucidum.

This idea I am fine with.  In fact, it makes sense in the context of her home planet, since Rannoch's star is dimmer than Sol.

Geth Knight wrote...

Tapetum what?

A tapetum is a reflective membrane in the eye that helps night vision.
Cats have them, which is why their eyes light up green when you shine light in them.

A "tapetum lucidum" is a part of the eyes in few organics, vertebrates mostly, which reflects visible light back through the retina, increasing the light available to the photoreceptors.

At first I didn't like the idea of Tali having human like skin.  I would perfer purple or a dark color.  But after seeing this pic I think I have changed my mind.

I think the glowiness is a quarian trait. They are expressive enough with body language.

Not 100% sure on that. It's likely they are somewhat reflective, but not emitting light.

helmet would reflect light before toughing eyes

Earlier i theorized that maybe her eyes have no glow at all. That the helmet itself made the area around her eyes glow for better views in dark situations. I mean they do have to live most of their lives in a suit. Its much harder to see with one on so maybe there is a program in her mask causing that effect, like a hollow view or something o.O :P

Suggests that videogames are not reality, and therefore, a minor oversight.

Reflective theory goes on assumption that light emitted by in-helmet HUD could be reflected.

It isn't whether or not the light will harm their eyes, it is the fact
that their eyes would be flooded with light that has not reflected off
of any object, and would drown out any light that had.  Light reflected off objects is how you see things.

Suffice to say that putting a light source inside of the organ that is supposed to detect light is akin to walking around with a flashlight shining in your eyes.

Her visor seems pretty opaque for a mere reflection to penetrate as brightly as her eyes glow...

little light cannot make tali eyes light up like lightbulbs unless has protective lenses around eyes
