Noticing cheap animations, cheap graphics, and cheesy rock music in the actual gameplay scenes. Looks like someone ripped off the Total War series and Lord of the Rings.

Given current technology yes (although Blu-Ray can store up to 50 GB of date vs. 8 or so GB of data a DVD can store), but with the PC what happens is that you install all the discs and then only need one disc (usually the first disc) to play the game. Easy as pie.

Or you just buy it off steam and never see any discs ever.

EA isn't as bad as they were. Its time for whoever's still hating them to reexamine the company.

Activision is the new devil.

Yeah, EA isn't nearly as "evil" as they once seemed.

I don't really have a problem with them publishing BioWare's stuff. It seems to me that they give BioWare complete--or very close to complete--control over their projects.

It's an absolutely beautiful thing when a talented development studio has access to tons of financial resources, while at the same time keeping complete creative control. Some notable examples of this would be Valve and Blizzard.

Sorry had to come back to say that blizzard sold out to the devil long ago after the success of WoW. They are now part of activision, and are one of the worst examples of what happens to good developers when they get rich. WoW completely massacred the story of Warcraft and the new Starcraft instalments (yes pluaral) further points to thier greed as a major motivating factor.

blizzard is fine. People are still getting mad over the installments? Every major new RTS game has expansions. They're big money and it'd be stupid if Blizzard didn't offer them. You don't need them, they're mostly singleplayer anwyays. They just add a few new units to the multiplayer.

Why should I get screwed out of campaign content, just because YOU don't want it. Don't want to sink more money into the game, fine, dont buy it. Sorry that was OT, but it makes me nerdrage when I see people talk down SC2 expansions.

It's not an expansion when it cost as much as the game itself. Theyre just money grubbin. Just like they did with WoW. Story is important to me, thats one of the reasons I love ME. Blizz butchered warcraft and there selling out with SC too. the story in SC might still be good but they are certainly milking it for every penny. They don't care anything about thier fans anymore. thier in it for the money.

They haven't said anything about pricing yet, but I really doubt they're going to try to sell people another $50 campaign addon. And if they do, I'll eat my words. Until then, there is no reason to think they will.

I agree with Geth. Because of Blizzard's/Activision's weak claim that "oh-we-had-to-spread-Starcraft II-out-over-three-installments (and incidentally charge full game price for each installment) blah-blah-blah" I've already decided that I won't be buying any of the Starcraft II games. Maybe someday when there's a single collector's batch with a steep discount. Chances that I'll still be interested by then are slim. Next!

Are you kidding? I've drawn better in MS Paint.
...I mean, I KNOW! That artist is bloody talented... like... wow! I love the subtle hints of cybernetic augmentation, it's perfect. Only nitpick is that I kinda want quarians to have a unique alien skintone, so they won't be AS human-like, you know? But if Tali was reveal her face and she looked like that, I'd be UBER happy. :D

I don't really agree. There's a reason behind our skintone, and since quarians have red blood, are mammals and more stuff, I think its logic for them to have some kind of similar skintone.

It's perfect. There's lips, there's hair, not-glowing eyes (I though that was because of the own helmet, reflective eyes, like those from cats and dogs, and wouldn't really make any sense to have bioluminiscence there) and it's actually a face my Shepard would smile to and think it's the sexiest thing in the world.

They haven't said this and your fooling yourself if you think they weren't going to make expansions anyways. This way you get 3 full fledged campaigns instead of the ones you get in either SC or BW.

There's also this.

i ment on 360

They can store missions and entire character packs on the 360 hard drive and I hope they take full advantage of that in ME3 to reduce disc swapping.

Asides from deliberately raising the price of a game simply because they were confident they could get away with it and then have said game turn out to have a 4-6 hour single player campaign and a multi-player campaign they insisted offered equal value for all players across platforms despite setting online PC gaming back some 10-15 years? Or how about good ol' Bobby publicly bad mouthing gamers, etc.? Not much (and yes, that was sarcasm that last bit).

I refuse to buy Activision games just as much as I refuse to buy any games that come with DRM that install secret files on my PC without my express permission. The games that come with limited activations are also black listed. Games that require online registration to work when they are NOT specifically multi-player games are games I either won't buy or I will wait a year or two until they are in the discount bin. I won't pay full retail price for what is a glorified rental. If publiishers and developers want to play hardball then I'm game. They need money from gamers like me. I don't need their games. They should never forget that lesson and I'm happy to remind them as often and for as long as it takes for it to get through their stubborn heads. I do not tolerate faceless corporate suits trying to control my private life! My freedom is not for sale.

Here's to hoping the (next?) next gen systems use HVD's.

Holographic Versatile Disc

The Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) is an optical disc technology that may one day hold up to 3.9 terabytes (TB) of information, albeit the current maximum is 500GB. It employs a technique known as collinear holography.

They'd have to sacrifice one element of the game to supplement the other. For example, Morrowind, prequel to Oblivion, was much larger and had much more content than Oblivion, but the graphics and animation sucked. Oblivion had great graphics, and luckily still kept the great stories, but it had much less content.

that would solve multiple discs, but what would devs do with all of the "wasted" space?

I'd sooner pick up knitting as my favourite hobby than buy the majority of my games from a digital source that has control over my games. Steam is perhaps a more user friendly form of DRM but it is DRM nonetheless. I only accept it for games that are multiplayer in nature (and thus require an online connection by default) or are so cheaply priced (ex. 1-5 or maybe 10 euros) that I can live with the possibility of someday not having access to those games should Valve decide to revoke my active status, shut down server support for certain games, or even go belly-up. If you want to place all your gamer eggs in one basket and trust a corporation you have no say in unless you own stock in it, go ahead. I won't be joining you (that's directed at Epoch).

Whether it comes from discs or a digital download the game data has to be stored on your PC HDD regardless, and quite frankly being bothered about having a disc in drive seems laughable to me. What? Someone can't listen to their favourite CD while playing a game? Buy an MP3 player on the cheap, or a stereo (doesn't have to be expensive), etc. or focus on the game itself.
