we had a long conversation about the reasons behind tali's glowing eyes and possible biological causes. We narrowed it down to either riddick eyeshine, bioluminesence or cybernetics. What's your diagonosis?
Bioluminescence likely.
Cybernetics also possible, though unlikely all quarians require repair of eyes. Unless serves different purpose. Heads-up-display on status of suit? Possible.
Riddick is from the Movie "Pitch Black" and subsequent followups who was a person who could see in the dark and it made his eyes glow somewhat. Although its been a really long time since I saw the movie i cant remember if it was genetic mod or cybernetics that allowed him to do so.
here is a pic from the movie, if you look at his eyes you can see they look kinda sparkly

You caught me, I forgot that. Doesn't change the fact that you don't have to look similar to someone to find them attractive.
again, dashing by definition:
lively and
spirited; "a dashing hero"
And yet again:
" dash·ing
/ˈdæʃ
ɪŋ/
Show IPA–adjective1.energetic
and spirited; lively: a dashing hero.
2.elegant and gallant in appearance and manner: a dashing young cavalry officer.
3.showy; stylish."

It is possible that the HUD is not from the suit but from the cybernetics themselves which is why they glow. Assuming that they infact are cybernetics as apposed to one of the other theories.

maybe it's just me being squeemish, but I would think that optic surgery would be a little extreme just to get a heads-up-display, especially when it could likely be projected onto the faceplate just as easily, or even better, monitored on an omni-tool:?Geth Hunter Alpha wrote...

Bioluminisence doesn't make any sense at all, knowing how Eyes actually work. Glowing eyes would probably blind the one who tries to see with them.
Cat eyeshine seems more probable. More like "reflective-eyes".

for like the bazillionth time, biolum wouldnt blind you. animals on earth have biolum near thier eyes and furthermore the amount of lumens that would be requried to blind you would make the eyes so bright that it would literally light up the entire mask and the enitrety of the normandy itself. A 60 watt lightbulb can light up a room and Talis eyes arent even close to that level of lumen output but a 60 watt bulb wont even come close to blinding you. Seriuosly

Tastes differ yeah, and you'll never please everyone. But that pic is by far the most well recieved one so far. If I'm Bioware, I want the face that appeals to the most people. I would think something similar to that is most likely.
Their best bet is probably not to reveal Tali's face, but some other Quarians so we know what they look like in general.want to see talis face wouldent mind if didnt but want to see her face
I DON'T want to see a face created by committee (and I don't expect Bioware to present one).
So, it's either - show the face they intended and anger some portion of their audience, or - leave it to imagination and anger another portion of their audience. (With probably a good amount of overlap between the groups...)
It's a tough choice, but they can handle it.

Image in message is this one, in case you haven't seen it. Everyone seems to like it, or at the very least, not hate it. Obviously it might not be your ideal tali, but overall, it seems to have pleased the most people.

Then let me go on record as stating that I don't like that pic of Tali.
"Hate" is a strong concept and one I try not to use lightly.

The amount of light being produced by talis eyes is analogues to that of a christmas light. if you go blind from looking at that you got some serious photosensativity issues.
