activities which I was included in here in the Real World birthed
a particulary...odd question, based on a high numbered replay
of ME2. I'll try to put some things in context to better frame the

Alright, so, I was at the home of a friend, alongside several

play Mass Effect. Now, in my particular social circle, Tali is the
prefered LI, and I thank God everyday for that since it keeps me

Anyway, the player, Daniel, reaches the culmination of the Tali
Romance, and we all watch in silence, geek energy level to full,
as the dialogue ensues followed by the gift that is the Quarian
Pounce. Fade to black, with everyone around the Tube looking
like christmans came early...despite the fact that all of us have
seen this particular moment play out well over a dozen times.
Give or take. Anyway, the game is starting to move into the run
on the Collector Base when one of our ilk asks the following
question. Keep in mind, the person posing the question was a
Girl. Reproductive organs on the inside. So, yeah, the question:

Gina: "Wait, did Shepard have to use protection?" 

Wait, wait, that's not the sad part.

*cue dumb laughter...followed by a strange silence as the
lot of us actually stop, and start to think about it*

The game is paused, and the discussion begins. Comments
such as, "Well, Mordin mentioned Antiseptics, so..." and
"Well, Shepard's man fluids would cause Tali aniphylactic
shock..." Etc, etc. This discussion continued for well over an hour
and some change. Various points and counter points were covered,
and at last this sad episode came to an end. Now, for reasons I do
not wish to over analyze, this question has been stuck in my head;
and, since some of you people acutally have a Solid, mature, and
intelligent head on your shoulders, I thought I'd field the question to
you folks. Now, keep in mind, I'm not asking this to be childish, lude,
or offensive. As some of you know, I don't even like the Tali Nude art.
So, please keep that in mind if you choose to share your own two cents.

Their DNA is incompatible, simple as that. In reality, two species whose proteins were of opposite chirality would in fact be able to interact normally and eat each other's food (go to page 2600 and then back a few, no more tahn five, I believe; in that area we discussed this extensively), but their DNA would nevertheless be incompatible. Even a salarian and a human wouldn't be able to mate as their DNA is completely different. It's like trying to mate a monkey with a frog: although their DNA is made up from the same proteinogenic amino acids, their chromosomes all have different functions and as such are incompatible. I suppose since humans and quarians both evolved from the higher primates on their planets their chromosomes could potentially have alleles with similar if not identical functions, but the two species still have (to our current knowledge) incompatible DNA types.

Mating a human and a salarian is like mating a monkey and a frog: utterly impossible due to chromosome incompatibility. If the quarians were a levo-protein based species, mating a quarian and a salarian would be like mating a human and a chimpanzee: possible, but the result will be relatively unexpected overall.

But in short, no, Shepard (not definitively, but very likely) didn't need protection.

Thats ok for me, if those people cheated on her. I am faithful to her, so Im all good with her.

I think that it is a possibility, but it is unknown. She said that they only get sick through a allergic reaction affect, so the anti-biotics could help against that. But on the other side of the argument due to the difference in DNA it could make it worse, so "protection" would be needed. hard saying, I actually want to hear other opinions on this one. I also wish the Doc wasn't busy, he would knock it out in one try... Unless he is scared

Who the f***'s looking down? jesus, why's everyone so sensitive tonight? I make a simple joke favoring Tali, in the f***ing Tali thread I might add, and everyone's jumping down my f***ing throat. And you're the one who attacked my method of play, not vice versa<_< I was just explaining myself
