I'm specifically avoiding that mindset, because that was my problem with ME2. I went in expecting my decisions to matter, and they didn't. If I expect the same with ME3, and Bioware does the same thing, I'll be disappointed. I'm sure the rachni decision will pop up at some point, but I feel like some people are expecting the rachni to come in and save the galaxy from destruction at the last minute, and I don't think the effect will be that pronounced. The rachni is also the easiest choice to have an effect on the ending. The others are much more nebulous, and could easily be changed by actions in ME2/3.
Like you said though, they'll definitely change the characters and dialogue, so you'll feel your decisions. That's good enough for me. I just worry that people are expecting a little too much in the way of decisions affecting the universe.
Precisely.
Now, as much as I would like to see the entire Galaxy fighting side by side along Shepard at the end, meaning, you'll Krogan, Rachni (wouldn't that be great, A Rachni squadmate?) Turian, Quarian (TALI!
But, Bioware can make those choices count in other ways, Rachni and Krogan fight side by side in a holding war, Quarians and Geth working hand in hand running cyberwarfare countermeasures, hell, even Batarians and humans marines fighting alongside each other. For the Paragaons, that imagery in itself exemplifies the Pargaon Shepard, two mortal enemies working together to save the galaxy. While the Renegade path shows a more darker, ruthless "human-centric" force over-running everything, using the other races as "shocktroops / cannon fodder.
