True, that was kind of cute. But all that is gone in ME2. I really don't know what the hell happened, but they messed her up as a character. Any interest in her died after five seconds in her office

That's exactly how I felt. After my first encounter wth Liara in ME2 I actually started using an ME save where I hadn't romanced anyone for all ME2 games I started beyond that. I thought "Why bother romancing her when Bioware effectively kills the relationship like that?"

That's how I felt with Ashley.  If they do it to Tali in ME3, I'm not sure what I'll do

I had such a "Et tu, Ashley?" moment on Horizon. Both the Council and Alliance repay you by dragging your name through the mud. Ashley was with me (and Tali) when we battled Robo-Frogger, yet she still buys their crap like a mindless tool and gives me another stab in the back. Had I been Renegade I'd been tempted to shoot her in the face.

That or you just let the Collectors take her...she'd do so much better as genetic goo.

If Ashley returns as a potential squad mate in ME3, I'll not recruit her if I can avoid it. I simply lost any and all respect I had for her after that meeting on Horizon.

Well, I wouldn't recruit her either, not becuase I lost respect for her. Only because she would be better for the alliance. Like she said "I got alliance in my blood". Stuck up little bi... Also, considering the fact I got along just fine without her too.

Wow, bit harsh. At least the email she sends shows that she was sorry for what she said and that she cares for you.

That email was complete bs.  She had plenty of time to come to grips with me being alive and being with Cerberus.  She believed propaganda over the person she loved.  Compare it to Tali, she was completely blindsided by Shep's appearance, and still listened to you.  She has way more reason to hate Cerberus than Ashley ever did.  This is after she is encased in stasis and I save her.  She still believes the people that set her up to die over me.  Her reactions on Horizon are unforgivable.  She's dead to me for ME3, I really hope they make it so that if you "cheat" on your ME1 LI they don't join your team in ME3.

She still cares for me because Bioware wants the relationship to carry over to ME3.  No other reason.

Actually, that's a very easy thing for Bioware to fix. Ashley / Kaiden is now considered as "key" personell. Odds are, Bioware could always put in a plot device where you *have* to take Ash or Kaiden along on part of a mission to secure Aliiance support.
You *were* after all working for / with Cerberus in ME2, so they would be there to evaluate your loyalties / agenda.
Its not the first time companions are "forced" on you in a game.

I dont know I thought she was genuine in that email. It made me a bit sad for her.

Maybe I value trust and loyalty more than most.  I have no interest in continuing a relationship with someone who will flat out call me a liar after I saved her and am trying to save more people.

She made her choice, she loves the alliance over me.  That's fine, I love Tali over her.
