Agreed. If she's doing all this for Shepard, that's fine. But when Shepeard comes in the door and says "Come with me, this is beneath you," and she says no, that constitutes a refusal to come with him, and in my books constitutes a break-up.
Then again, I didn't romance Liara- my guy was with Ashley, and after the crap she pulled on Horizon- demeaning Shepard, claiming he betrayed her and was an "enemy" now, claiming that she THOUGHT she loved me (indicating that she DIDN'T), that constitues a break up in my book, this green lighting my guy with Tali. The e-mail was too little, too late.

That email was complete bs.  She had plenty of time to come to grips with me being alive and being with Cerberus.  She believed propaganda over the person she loved.  Compare it to Tali, she was completely blindsided by Shep's appearance, and still listened to you.  She has way more reason to hate Cerberus than Ashley ever did.  This is after she is encased in stasis and I save her.  She still believes the people that set her up to die over me.  Her reactions on Horizon are unforgivable.  She's dead to me for ME3, I really hope they make it so that if you "cheat" on your ME1 LI they don't join your team in ME3.

She still cares for me because Bioware wants the relationship to carry over to ME3.  No other reason.

I disagree that Ash's e-mail is/was "complete bs". Ash had been made aware of rumors that Cerberus might be involved with the attacks on the outlying human colonies, not that Shepard was now working with Cerberus (not even Anderson was aware of that if you recall the conversation with him on the Citadel after Horizon). Emotions can be a powerful and tricky thing, and it is not unusual for different people to react differently. I find Ash's explanation that it took her the better part of a year just to begin to be able to move on from a deep love connection with Shepard believable.

Hell, I've been in relationships where it's taken 1 to 1 ½ years before I could genuinely say the pain, hurt and sorrow of the relationship ending had finally subsided to a faint, dull numbness which could still (and still can,) erupt in to vivid emotions at times when certain elements are triggered. Bear in mind that in my case no one died. So for Ash, a woman who has made a lifetime habit of keeping most people at arm's length, to finally allow herself to open up to a romantic relationship with Shepard and then watch him die on the Normandy from her escape pod, having to live with that pain and quite possibly second guessing her actions in those last crucial moments, and then suddenly two+ years later without warning suddenly seeing him standing before her again without him having contacted her, yeah, that would very likely qualify as a shock to most people. I can easily imagine a myriad of emotions running through me in rapid succession on such an occasion. Ranging from disbelief, to happiness and excitement, to anger and uncertainty, etc.

The thing I can't get over is that she believes the Alliance over me.  Everything comes back to that.  If she truly loved me, I don't see how she can stand there and call me a liar.  I just don't see her reactions being consistent with someone who is that caught up with emotion.  Her first reaction when she sees me is to believe Alliance propaganda over the person she's loved all this time?  Huh?  I saw that as pretty honest view into her feelings.  I don't see her suddenly deciding that I'm the most important thing in her life, and I don't want that.

She cant just drop everything on a moments notice, even for Shepard.

Doesn't she say it could take decades to stop TSB?  She's an asari, she has that time to waste, Shepard doesn't.

What stops her from abandoning her stupid little hunt? "Sure Shep, you go on a suicide mission which you probably won't return from to save hundreds of thousands of people, but I can't come and help you with that, I've got to avenge the death of one person. And make money."
