Reasons I got Ashley Williams killed on Virmire...

1. She was a xenophobe / racist / anti-alien bigot (take your pick)
2. She was prepared to shoot Wrex in the back, against orders www.youtube.com/watch
3. She won't trust you for working with Cerberus (a pro-human group), while your alien crewmembers (even Liara and Wrex) will trust you.
4. She was a soldier, I was a soldier, Kaiden balanced the team better. Plus with everyone saying Miranda is the most useful squadmate in ME2, why not have another sentinel in ME3? Especially one with a better attitude.
5. Liara was nicer (in ME1)
6. Who cares, as long as I have Tali?

By the game's definition I cheated on her yeah.  No person would consider themselves in a relationship in Shep's position though.  I talked to her once in ME1, we had sex once, I died for 2 years, then she b*tches me out when we see each other again.  If Bioware had given me the option to break up I would have.  It was a stupid move on Bioware's fault, and a friend has my ME1 game.  I'm not going to avoid Tali because of Bioware's mistake.

I can't see any believable way I would want to break up with Tali in ME3, but if Bioware completely destroys her character and changes her completely, I may.

I find it very...convenient..of you to place all blame and responsibility on BioWare. True, they don't exactly leave any of us much room to maneuver in regarding the ME1 LIs come ME2 and that is due to BW's design decisions and thus their responsibility. The same goes in regards to our dialogue options with the ME1 LIs, but where it concerns choosing a different LI in ME2, be it Tali'Zorah or someone else, that is the player's responsibility since no one is forcing the player to take on a new LI in ME2. That you, I and many others leaped at the chance to be with Tali because the option was available in ME2 doesn't absolve us of the fact that it was each our own choices to do so and thus that is our responsibility just as the design decision mentioned previously are BioWare's responsibility.

I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't have romanced Tali. I did it too and I did, and still do, genuinely care for Ashley. I don't consider it cheating given the extraordinary circumstances involved between ME1 and ME2, yet the responsibility for choosing to be with Tali is mine just as it is yours for your playthrough if you chose to romance someone other than any ME1 LI interest you may have had.

She has been tracking him down for years, dropping everything could mean that shed have to start all over.

She's been working on it for less than 2 years.  She isn't willing to redo that later for the chance to be with Shep now?  I don't see how you're helping Liara's case

Shep won't be there forever, 1/10 of her life at best.  Why is she wasting their time together now?  TSB will be there later.

I disagree that Ash's e-mail is/was "complete bs". Ash had been made aware of rumors that Cerberus might be involved with the attacks on the outlying human colonies, not that Shepard was now working with Cerberus (not even Anderson was aware of that if you recall the conversation with him on the Citadel after Horizon). Emotions can be a powerful and tricky thing, and it is not unusual for different people to react differently. I find Ash's explanation that it took her the better part of a year just to begin to be able to move on from a deep love connection with Shepard believable.

Hell, I've been in relationships where it's taken 1 to 1 ½ years before I could genuinely say the pain, hurt and sorrow of the relationship ending had finally subsided to a faint, dull numbness which could still (and still can,) erupt in to vivid emotions at times when certain elements are triggered. Bear in mind that in my case no one died. So for Ash, a woman who has made a lifetime habit of keeping most people at arm's length, to finally allow herself to open up to a romantic relationship with Shepard and then watch him die on the Normandy from her escape pod, having to live with that pain and quite possibly second guessing her actions in those last crucial moments, and then suddenly two+ years later without warning suddenly seeing him standing before her again without him having contacted her, yeah, that would very likely qualify as a shock to most people. I can easily imagine a myriad of emotions running through me in rapid succession on such an occasion. Ranging from disbelief, to happiness and excitement, to anger and uncertainty, etc.

The thing I can't get over is that she believes the Alliance over me.  Everything comes back to that.  If she truly loved me, I don't see how she can stand there and call me a liar.  I just don't see her reactions being consistent with someone who is that caught up with emotion.  Her first reaction when she sees me is to believe Alliance propaganda over the person she's loved all this time?  Huh?  I saw that as pretty honest view into her feelings.  I don't see her suddenly deciding that I'm the most important thing in her life, and I don't want that.

A fair point, IMO. That said I think it bears worth mentioning that Ashley is a bit of an "action oriented" person and this can lead to her reacting impulsively when in an emotionally charged state. How many times haven't you, I or others possibly said or done something in the heat of the moment that we have come to regret later? That didn't necessarily truly reflect everything we felt or thought about the person or thing in a given situation? Ashley's reaction on Horizon was unreasonable IMO, yet also a very human one. I'm willing to be more forgiving of her outburst. That forgiveness should not be equated with me automatically taking her back as a love interest however.
