Some point in ME1.  I don't remember exactly when, I always went everywhere with Tali and Wrex, and they were by far my favorite two characters.  I wasn't in love with Tali at first though.  I think I just got slowly Talindoctrinated over time.  I slowly went from Tali being one of my favorite characters to caring more about whether Tali was romancable or not than any other game play data during the week before ME2 came out.

Than ME2 came along and clinched the deal

Somebody's going to hate me for this but it was after Liara gave me the cold shoulder on Illium, and I went to Haestrom to recruit my favorite squadmate from ME1. Then I found her recording, "I wish Shepard were here...".
That did it right there.

I noticed the burgeoning tell-tale signs during the latter conversations down in Engineering with Tali'Zorah onboard the Normandy RS-1 back in ME1. I knew I couldn't romance her but I longed so dearly for it nonetheless.

True, but it wasn't in pitched battle. He held the high, strategic ground with a high powered sniper rifle overlooking a single, narrow, open entry way. A very different combat scenario.

He was alone for several day, too. It was only recently that they banded against him.

Was he alone for the entire time though?  On my last playthrough, I didn't talk to him before his loyalty mission opened, and I got some new dialogue from him that seemed to hint that his team that Sidnois got killed was with him before you get there on Omega.

He said something like he wasn't alone, he had 11 others with him, but he was betrayed.  Can anyone confirm this?
