Oh I dunno. Jack has certainly been through a severe turn in the crapgrinder of Life on at least one occasion. Apparently more than once. That's not to say Garrus has had it easy - he hasn't. We each have our own demons to wrestle with and while yours might seem easy to me and vice versa, none of that matters since each individual has to deal with them on his/her own.
I understand what you're saying, I know Jack has been through a lot, as a child she was used for medical experiments and grew up in a life of crime. What I said is that Garrus is very inured, on top of his military and C-sec career. And arguably he is the most battle-tested LI.
I agree that Garrus is a tough veteran of many battles (hence why I picked him to lead the first squad on "Suicide Run"), however I would argue that Thane likely has at least as much combat experience, if not more, from his long career as a top notch assassin.
