Alright, got that IFF. Was much easier than I expected.
And Tali saved my behind quite a few times. Nothing's better than a combat drone distracting the husks so you can get some distance, when in trouble.
Did anyone else here play Soldier and could give me their opinion on Widow/Revenant? I've seen a few people going on and on about how awesome the Revenant is, but so far I found the Geth Assault Rifle to be okay enough, and the Widow seems much better than the other available Sniper Rifles.
Hi, Soldier-class here.
The true test of ANY build/weapon is on Insanity mode. IF whatever you are doing isnt working on that level, it means you need to change things up.
With that being said, Revenant is the only logical choice at that difficulty. And in extension, all the easier levels. Except maybe Casual. I think Casual was meant for you to screw around in.
I am almost done with insanity mode as soldier, I think the widow is better, the revelant is just to inaccurate for me. Were it not for that id consider it over the widow.

The Widow is the best choice over all. (Mantis does 260 damage a shot, Viper does 80 damage a shot, the Widow does 380 damage a shot) The widow also gives you 2 shots for every 1 thermal clip you pick up. It's a reloadable heavy weapon.

If the Revenant's accuracy sucks, as Somebody1003 says, it's probably not a weapon I'd have much fun with.
It's really too bad that we can't have more than one special weapon through multiple playthroughs, or at least the option to switch between them.
Most people who were talking about Rev/Wid said that the Revenant is "definitely" and "much" "better" for Soldiers than the Widow, so I'm still pretty unsure what to stick with... anyways, thank you for your opinions!
I'll get ready to take Tali on a trip to the Geth base now.
EDIT: I think I'll stick with the Widow. I use the Geth AR with Warp Ammo for normal fights, the Widow against Scions, Heavy mechs and similiar boss-stuff, and it's working pretty well on Insanity. Thanks again!

The way AR works, you get more damage out of a mid range rev burst then you do super charging your single Widow Shot
and witht he way AR works, you get enough out of your plain viper sniper rifle that the difference is slightly marginal.
I found insanity to be too....slow, too much waiting behind cover. I play exclusively on veteran, after beating it on insanity, because it's challenging enough that if i'm just careless i die, but I can still be reckless and kick ass at a high pace.

I guess it really boils down to our personal playstyles. I dont like sniping, Id rather pepper enemies from afar. Which works for me. When I snipe, the target is usually moving and I look like an idiot to Tali and Garrus as I follow em with my sniper scope while I stand up and take shots from them.
So ya, You've heard both sides, I think all thats left is for you to try both ways out.

I haven't tried the Widow but it seems to be a single shot bolt-action rifle. I love the second most powerful sniper rifle because of its auto-load function allowing me to "reach out and touch someone" repeatedly in rapid succession. As for the Revenant it is a full machine gun and not an assault rifle. Short, controlled bursts will provide you with the best results especially when coupled with special ammo types most effective against whichever type of opponent you are facing. The 80 round clip of the Revenant is superb IMO though the accuracy of the Geth assault rifle is unsurpassed in the assault rifle/machine gun categories. The Revenant does pack more of a punch though and once you have upgraded the assault rifle the Revenant benefits from the increased damage and aim stability as well.

It was historically related to the real world example of a person's name becoming synomymous with something undesirable (or desirable), which in turn sprung up from a theory that "Keelah se'lai" or "bosh'tet" might be names of Quarians known for good, or bad, deeds. It's all there if you take the time to read through the pages that deals with it.

Upgrades + short, controlled bursts (though after upgrades you can ease off that) = a world of difference.

12 was pretty terrible, can't say I expect much more from 13 and Jrpg's are just so flat compared to the good western rpgs.
Suprised she's a lead though, Liara doesn't go through a huge range of emotions so I just think of her in a supporting role.

That has not been my experience at all. Guess it comes down to play style, how many upgrades you splash out for and general aiming skill.

yeah I might try that on my next insane run, although the collector assult rifle has the best accuracy of all so it might take some time to get used to after using that or the geth rifle for so long.
I just wish that the game allowed you to pick up another weapon from the collector ship on imported runs.
