On the right hand of your screen mouse over Profile
Click on Forum Settings
In the signature box type in [img]
Press control + V
type in [/img1]
delete the number 1

You can generally hold 2 banners in your sig

But he didn't give you a "blank cover". What he gave you would be the online link equivalent of those non-see through wrapped up adult magazines you find in certain stores which is done to prevent minors from seeing it. In other words, warning was provided. That you still chose to click on it is your responsibility. End of.
