I feel your pain RE: 1.01 patch.  I played through the game w/o it on a single core and it was excruciating at times.

It was cool.  Got off the boat, walked to Chinatown, got rained on, bought a can of Beaver Buzz, admired the architecture, got back on the boat.  Not a bad stop.
