Wouldn't be quite as "optimal" as short hair for her helmet, but I can see a pony tail working with the suit. 

I don't think keeping any kind of hair in the suits is that much of a problem at all really.  They're super advanced pieces of technology.  Think of how we could incorporate hair into a full body suit today, now add 200 years of technology with a race that is a lot more adept with technology than we are.  I'm sure they could add in an affro compartment if quarians had always worn affros throughout history.  Keeping normal hair (by our standards,) should be a cinch, whether it be a ponytail or something similar to almost every female npc in the game.

The ME universe is pretty devoid of long hair in general, so I would doubt that Tali would have long hair anyway, but any version of short hair I would think is still in play.
