I was far more interested in Samara, Mordin and Legion, really. I already knew about Tali and played as a woman, so my options were rather limited as to what I could do with her.

I wouldn't mind her being a squadmate again in ME3, though.

I do agree with you that the three characters you  mentioned asides from Tali are fascinating. I'd like to see all of them return in ME3, with the potenial bonus of seeing Samara as a full potential love interest this time around. That said, Tali is exquisite and she makes me feel all those wonderful things and more that I've felt during the very best relationships I've had to date. Bravo BioWare!

I was also hoping to see Samara as a love interest in ME2, making up for Liara  I guess. Was disappointed, but I kinda understand why Samara is uninterested. Part of it is just that she does not want to really risk more children, as they have obviously caused her more trouble than they're worth. Also, I forget her exact age, but she is getting a bit older (not terribly old for an asari, but she has definitely seen more than many others) and likely not ready for a relationship, again, at this point.

So it was a bit disappointing, but understandable, I guess.

She is around 1,000 years old and she is interested but not in sex without feelings. What held her back from my Shepard was not the age difference, but rather that her justicar code would get in the way. Her three daughters whom inherited the uncommon Asari defect may have inherited due to Samara bonding with a fellow Asair. This has led to some speculation that it may be one of the causes for true bloods being looked down upon and Asari culture encouraging bonding with other species. A bonding between Samara and Shepard could be seen as a redemption of sorts if it produced a healthy Asari offspring without the previously experienced affliction. It can be done!

OK!  But dont
laugh.  Here's what I photoshopped up.  Only my imagination, not to
conflict with anyone elses.  That's why Tali is perfect right now, and
something will be irretrievably lost if we get a peek under that
hood...you can project anything, any ideal, any emotion onto that
faceplate, and what you see in your head will always be better than any
reality somebody imposes on you.

Anyways, I wanted her to be distinctly alien, exotic, but still appealing.  I figured she should be sort of pale-ish...almost an albino...from beig encased in that suit.  Sort of like Darth Vader when we finally get a look at his face, but you know...hot.

So I started with the lovely Anna Walton as Princess Nuala from Hellboy 2, which is already in the ballpark of what I want:



I gave her a lavender cast.  I know theres no real evidence tali is *purple*, but lavender is such a lovely hue for her, and is not already covered by any of the other alien races in the game. 

I gave her a bit of an alien skin texture, and modified the face a bit to have a slight cant to the eyes.  I went ahead and gave her the glowy opaque eyes, but Im not a fan of it. Enlarged pupils like nuala's would have imbued her with much more humantiy and expressiveness.  Im pretty sure the white eyes under the helmet are just a visual device to convey the presence of eyes when rendering pupils would be problematic, like they do with comic book superheroes, and not meant to be taken literally.  But I know what the people want.

I decided to go with the chicken leg metaphor, and specualte that maybe the Quarians are of of vaguely avian evolution. It makes a certain amount of sense if one looks at the compatible Turian/Quarian physiology link.  Assuming Turians are of vaguely Saurian descent, one could make the whole Dinosaurs/Birds link.

Unfortunately, theres just no way to make a beak look attractive.  None whatsoever.  Apologies to Howard the Duck.  So I gave her feathery hair.  I was tempted top give her no hair to make her look more authentically alien, but decided that the ornate headresses the quarians wear are meant to give the impression of some kind of hair-like mass  or head covering, so they are aware of the loss of that feature enclosed in the suits, and are trying to "humanize" their appearance somewhat.

Y'know I've loved Tali since I first saw her Trailer for ME2, before that I never gave her a chance in ME1 cause in all honesty I hated her look in ME1, the hood and that bra thing, never liked them. But now I'm a devoted fan of Tali like the rest of you, have tons of pics of her saved. But still when I see all of you say may tali be in your heart and all that when people leaves it creeps me out a bit, heheheh.

the first one is taken directly from Hellboy 2. it was just linked to show the basis for the photoshopping which the guy did an awesome job of imo. It looks realistic
