I was pretty much the opposite.  Found out Tali was an LI a few days before launch from snooping around on forums.  Didn't talk to Kelly much at first, and didn't find that line until my second or third playthrough.

i didn't really know what to do, she was like by best friend in ME1, and i was planning on staying loyal to Ash

i was kinda timid at first to tell you the truth...then her loyalty mission came, oiwas sold

Was confused at first when heard was LI.
Fell for when heard Haestrom log in building.
Intended to stay loyal to Liara with Roman, but...too weak...
Met Liara later. Found out was for best.
All for Tali.

The Danish military underwent a major revision and overhaul phase back in 2004. Reserves no longer exist. There is the equivalent of a National Guard ("Hjemmeværnet") in each of the three branches of the armed forces (Army - ca. 80%, Navy - ca. 20% and Air Force - ca. 20% of the military forces) and a conscription system is still in place. Conscripts undergo 4 months of basic training except for the Royal Guard which has an additional 4 months of service carrying out guard duty as part of the outer perimeter security detail of the Danish royal family at their various palaces, mansions and other residential locations within Denmark. Also the Hussar Horsemen serve 12 months in total along with the specific naval recruits selected for the royal family's flagship - this is due to the greater amount of detail, training and resources spent on those three sub-groups.

No conscripts are currently able to be deployed on international missions by law, or until such a time as the Danish parliament changes the law pertaining to such matters. There is a professional forces segment of the Danish military specifically trained and equipped to participate in rapid reaction forces engagements on behalf of the UN and NATO. Then there are the two main special forces branches, the equivalent of the Navy Seals ("Frømands Korpset") and the Green Berets/Rangers ("Jager Korpset") in the US forces.

I was a conscript although I moved from the UK back to Denmark so that I could voluntarily report for the conscription process despite being exempt while living abroad. It doesn't get much more voluntary than that!

Dang, Ashley cannot take a hint. Replaying ME1 without a love interest to save for Tali. Told Liara not interested, she's fine with it. Bad mouthed Ashley's family and religion, and everything else as neutral, and the b**** is still trying to get with me. I see no other option but to Virmire her.
