It's very tempting at times yet I stay away from doing such unless I have legally bought a game and it doesn't work as indicated by the company (it is essentially a breach of contract). While still illegal in a number of countries I consider it justified for private customers to find...creative ways...of getting a legally purchased game to work if it does not function quickly and with ease upon installation.

That happens very rarely since I tend to do my homework about a game's DRM background before I buy it. If I'm in doubt I leave it alone until it's DRM/limited activation/mandatory Steamworks registration status can be confirmed. Sometimes if the price is extremely low and if it's Steamworks (but not the other two scenarios) that's involved I'll buy it, but that can easily be one to two years after release. If they're selling me a glorified rental then I'm not prepared to pay anything more for it than a rental price.

Most of the time I do it for PC-exclusives I'm undecided about buying, usually because of finance restrictions... My version of renting, most of the time if I really enjoy a game, I'll go out and buy it too...
