But the idea is plausible, since you can't change the functionality of base-materials such as proteins, they still act the same regardless. Take minerals for an example, iron extracted from the ore of a meteor is still exactly the same as iron naturally found on earth. You can not change things that are so basic, so proteins should be in the same boat.

Well I do know that skin pigment is derived fromt he amino acid Tyrosine, or at least last I looked this up on wikipedia it was... But I have no idea if their chirality would affect that or not... Like I said, I'm not a biochemist
