It bothers me how Tali has such a higher chance of death than most other crew members. 

-She needs a ship upgrade to survive. Without the shields, she's the "first pick" the game makes in dying (the other two being Legion and Thane).

-She's an (obvious)  specialist, thus needs her loyalty to survive if used for her job.

-There's a confrontation between her and Legion, thus a chance to lose her loyalty.

-Her life also depends on another (loyal) specialist, who isn't quite so obvious (how many people thought Samara or Zaeed were good picks?)

-She's susceptible to death if left to hold the line.

Now, I never lost her, but it just seems if you did the math between all the possible chances of deaths between the characters, Tali would likely score the highest. 

its funny that you mention that...one time I left her to hold the line. and I sware to you, in the background you can see tali getting hit and she falls down. After regrouping on Normandy, she's still alive!?? Actually, everytime you get to that scene, look in the background, one of your teamates always gets hit. No joke.

Lately it's been Garrus getting hit for me in that cutscene.  I've started leaving him because he boosts the "hold the line" score so much.

I think Thane would score the highest as he can also be killed in the same ways as Tali plus he can be killed if you don't upgrade the guns.

Fun fact: Garrus can also be killed in the engineering explosion.
