Out of curiousity, how is Harbinger still connected to the base?  With all collectors gone, he should have no more control over it than any other building.  And again, I would assume that Cerberus/TIM isn't stupid, they saw what happened to the team on the derelict reaper, they're reckless enough to risk more people, but they're well aware of the risk, no one important like TIM is going there.

i can't believe Harbinger controled those Collectors over a distance of, at least we know of, a few hundret lightyears just by his mind. There must be some mindcontroling tech inside the base and every team Cerberus would send there, is doomed then right from the beginning. And i doubt they could rip out some tech or even learn something out of it in a sort enough time to not get indoctrinated.

He didn't control them with his mind, collectors had control implants in them similar to Saren at the end of ME1.  That let's them control them from far away without problems.  No reason for backups in the base, because no one was ever going to get there.  If the reapers are anything, its arrogant to a fault.

I don't know much about the speed of indoctrination, but I would expect Cerberus to be careful enough in scavenging the base.  I still see that as a lesser concern than Cerberus' intentions once the reapers are gone.

While true, I find that's extremely less likely to be helpful against the reapers than the intact base.  You may get lucky, but again, its taking unnecessary risks.  Any find would also still be going through Cerberus first, which goes back to the main concern from before.  I still don't see accidental indoctrination as a huge threat.

I think there's a likely chance that the base could be more useful tech wise than anything else found in the past.  The game makes a point of saying that the collectors/reapers never expected anyone to reach there.  This isn't a situation where they left mass relays for everyone to find.  They could have a complete kryptonite in there, because no one was ever supposed to reach it.  I don't see the reaper making technology being used at all, more likely that its something like a better weapon like the thanix cannon, which IIRC, was based on Sovereign's weapon.

I comprehend the logic in your argument, I still do not share your optimism however. Also, the final bit above seems less than completely thought through IMO. If the Reapers are much more advanced and powerful than existing Council forces, presuming that they are defeated utilising tech gleaned from the Collector's base (if that is even sufficient on its own which remains questionable - it's rare for there to be a "magic silver bullet"), given that this tech is supervised by Cerberus whom exactly is going to stop them if they suddenly decide to get "uppity" afterwards? Even with upgraded tech for the Alliance and Council fleets, unless we are dealing with a number of years for entire new fleets to be constructed, Cerberus would be free to construct their own Reaper-like ships and possibly start the entire cycle up again and/or dominate or destroy other sapient species at their behest. While I favour a strong, vibrant and powerful humanity, I do not think it has to be in a manner that does not afford peaceful and generally cordial relations with other sapient species. I

Well to be honest, I have no idea how big Cerberus is.  I'm under the impression that they aren't a large organization military wise, and don't pose a large threat to the galaxy, even with advanced technology.  If I'm wrong there, it messes up my argument.

The reapers are huge sentient machines that have been wiping out all life in the galaxy for millions of years, Cerberus is a smallish organization focusing mainly on research.  The reapers are a much more dangerous threat.  I don't see Cerberus building up to a fraction of a threat of the reapers, even given years afterwards.  They just don't have the people/resources that the reapers do.

As far as who can stop them, everyone.  I don't recall any hints anywhere that Cerberus would have close to the strength to enslave the galaxy.  If everyone united can kill hundreds of reapers, they can stop Cerberus getting uppity. 

I agree that there's no guarantee that there is a magic bullet there, but while Cerberus is a shady organization, and likely future enemy, they need the reapers stopped as much as you.  They'll help you as much as they can, if that means getting technology for a main gun that can be added to every ship that will one-shot reapers, they'll help.  That's the kind of thing I'm expecting there.

Cerberus exact size remains unknown to the public that I'm aware of. IIRC it is mentioned in ME2 that there are around 150 administrative operatives like Miranda overseeing various projects spread out between the three main branches of Cerberus (research, military, and political). It is indicated that there may be around 20 active projects at a time since TIM likes to keep personal oversight over each project given some of the events in the past. That said, rogue operations do exist and as our history has shown it needn't take particularly long for an a well organized and well funded organization to leap from small and side-lined (which Cerberus isn't) to becoming a fully-fledged dominant player on the local power scene. Considering Cerberus' connections with Terra Firma it may not even need to reveal itself publicly but could instead help Terra Firma's rising political star further and provide Reaper tech to such pro-human forces. Goodwin's Law is about to be shown, but if the German Nationalist Social Party could do it in a handful of years on a similar scale given the conditions at the time, then there are good reasons to think that an even more powerful organization such as Cerberus could pull it off as well.

As for the other fleets stopping a large Reaper-like fleet, that was one of the previous points: Incorporating Reaper tech and actually being manufactured like a Reaper ship are two different things. The Council forces would very likely be at a notable disadvantage. You ignore Cerberus at your own risk. And I still consider your optimism regarding the safety of keeping the Collector base around misplaced.
