Good job people.
And to stay within Mass Effect,
I have an inquiry about Sovereign.
When you kill Saren, or alternatively let him blow his brains out,
and Sovereign brings him back to life, was that a reckless maneuver on the Reaper's part?
I mean, it seems like he put an unnecessary amount of power into Saren in an attempt to kill you.
(Seeing as when you killed Saren the second time, Sovereign had what I would describe as a stroke, vaporizing its shields and giving the fifth fleet a clear shot.)
Was Sovereign martyring itself, knowing that with your death the reapers would be unstoppable and would eventually complete the cycle?
Or did you really ****** it off that much?
Discuss.
His sole purpose was to open the gate for the other reapers. He could've released control of mutant Saren, but then he couldn't accomplish his objective. It was better for him to hold on to the very end, with a chance for success, then give up and ensure that he failed.

So you think he martyred himself for his reaper brethren?
I think the same.

Not sure if martyrdom was his intention. Reapers seem pretty confident in their abilities. I think he may have expected to get in, assume control of the Citadel relay and get out alive. Shepard delayed the assuming control part of his plan though, and without that, nothing else Sovereign did would matter. The reason he held on to husk Saren until he died was because husk Saren had a very important task to do.

There was no reason for Sovern to think it would lose. The Reapers have been repeating this process of destruction for longer than we can even imagine.
Every time a civilization has reaches it's peak they pick out one among them who has the power and the darkness in their heart that they can control and use to bring about the end of days.
Saren was the Reaper's star player and since this is a system that has worked countless times before, Sovern saw no reason to NOT put most of it's power into this Turian.
Pride cometh before the fall. . .

Apart from controlling Saren and fighting Shepard for control of the Citadel relay (to call the other reapers back), remember that he was also fighting both the Citadel fleet, as well as the Alliance 5th fleet. Sovereign may have been a reaper, but he had a lot on his plate at the time, and even reapers aren't invincible.DrathanGervaise wrote...

Why control Saren at all? Why not shoot a nifty lazer tentacle up Shepard's ass and be done with it?

I think its more likely that reapers have a large portion of their conscience present in an individual that they're assuming direct control of. If you notice, Harbinger always releases control before a specific collector dies. He could probably fight longer if needed (like husk Saren,) but it would be risking his life. For Sovereign, opening the Citadel relay was worth risking his death.

That didn't exactly look like a precision weapon. I doubt he could hit Shepard and not blow up the control panel he was after. And he most likely still needed husk Saren to get some stuff done inside.

The same reason no 007 villian dosen't just put a gun to Bond's head and pull the trigger.
Bad guys loves their melodramatics.
Besides, that would have made for a ****ty, ****ty ending to the game.
