Yes, they are part of Canada but they are also a unique group........a culture within a culture........a nation within a nation you could say.......it's hard to explain

Hype backlash.  As the love for
something grows, the amount of unsubstantiated hate grows as well. 
A lot of people love Tali, people will hate for that reason.  I don't
worry about it.  I don't think Miranda fans or any other fans hate us
either.  Sure every group has its trolls/idiots, there are also plenty
of reasonable fans who I've had conversations with.  You just never hear
from the rational voices because the idiots are louder.



I hope
all characters are back for ME3, and I'm sure most people feel the same
way.  So much so that I think not having the ME2 squad back as the ME3
squad could seriously hurt sales.

Hype after the
fact, you mean. Tali was hardly as showcased as Miranda, ESPECIALLY in
the romance preview video (showing Samara as much or more than Tali when
she wasn't even a LI lol). Miranda seemed to be top dog after the bewbs
video, then Tali turns out to have a better romance AND the biggest fan
base so Mirancers automatically hate.



I'm not generalizing all
Mirancers as this, because as I think you yourself stated Phil "It's
lonely at the top" which nobody would question if the one at the top was
some obvious "stripper that kicks ass" chick, but that's not the case,
is it? Some alien with an unkown face and only 12 total digits with an
enviro-suit that Average Tom would find repulsive, this character is #1.
Easy to see how the masses of Average Tom's could misunderstand,
dismiss it, and proceed to hate, instead of not understanding, letting
people live, and being content.



Personally I despise
Miranda, but I don't troll her thread (unless provoked, and hasn't
happened outside of PMs). Even if there was a Miranda 3.0 thread right
now with 4000 pages, I wouldn't be trolling, I'd be in my little Tali
tent enjoying what I have (again, not saying all Miranda fans are like
this, only that it's fairly clear that Tali and Miranda are nothing
alike, the other character fans in general don't understand the
Talimance except Garrusmancers and maybe Thanemancers of course lol). We're all a little like Tali in some way, that's why we like her.

Good to see ya, mate! I've been here for a couple of days now, our paths just haven't crossed. It has been close, though. I've seen your leave-posts a few times, I was only a minute late.


I was away the whole last week due to holiday. I'm back now, however, and posting here nearly 24/7. I'm also writing fanfic now... It will be "soundtracked".

I listened to "Star Raker" earlier today. Great song!

Frenchies would be okay if they could actually fight though... us Canadians saved their asses countless times in WWI and WWII and how do they repay us? By being total ****s to us.

Despite being a fellow Canadian and all I'm going to have to disagree with you there on a few points

1. The French-Canadian's are just as good as fighting as any English-Canadian, The Royal 22nd "Van Doo's" a French Canadian battalion have an excellent fighting record

2. Yes, they don't like us English speaking Canadian's very well and yes they have a history of trying to secede........however their situation is understandable as they have a very unique culture and it is under threat of dissapearing and drowning under the English speaking culture..........let me put it this way, their cultural situation with the rest of Canada is the same as Canada's cultural situation with the US.......they're both under the threat of being over shadowed and engulfed by the more dominant culture

i was talking about French as in France in WWI and WWII.

have you heard about the battle of Ypres where the Germans used the chlorine Gas? the French retreated and Canada had to hold the line... which we did BTW.

ALso when the British conquered the french in the 100 years war they actually treated the French better than France ever did... they gave them representation and better healthcare and allowed them to own the land they worked on... thats something that the French Government never did.

They Quebecers are being ungrateful for everything we've done. If they secede from Canada i garuntee they'll all die because they simply don't have enough resources to sustain themselves.

Aye. The French are frequently, and unfairly, demonized and ridiculed in regards to their military might. France has a long and very distinguished military record. They had, and likely still have, the largest standing military force in Western Europe and their training and equipment is far from lacking, indeed the French military is a fully modern and professional military force. It has been pointed out in this thread previously, as well as one of the earlier threads, that while France has lost 50 major wars it has won 105 major wars as well.

Oh, and the French Foreign Legion - while made up of a plethora of nationalities - is hard as nails. They aren't heavy on independent thinking but as rugged warriors they are said to be superb. At a specialised dessert warfare training camp run by the French Foreign Legion in Eritrea, it took a unit of Legionnaires 45 minutes to complete the course during night time exercises. It took a US Marine unit 18 hours to do the same.

One does not have to like France, the French nor the French military, but to call them cowards and incompetent is just outright ignorant and false.
