I've dug myself into such a deep hole. Just now started a female adept playthrough of ME1 in order to get the last of the achievements (yes, i know, pointless, but hey) i need, which includes reaching level 60, which i heard takes forever. Such is the case, I won't be able to start a maleshep playthrough to carry over to ME2 and romance Tali for about a month (school and all), and the actual romance will have to wait even longer...
Im sorry, been a while since i played ME1, but IF IM RIGHT, New Game + mode keeps your level so you can start at the level you finished and rank up to sixty... if that makes it quicker...

Though I do support short hair simply because I don't like bald women.

I just don't think quarians even have hair. The devs have stated that humans and batarians have hair, but they've been quiet about the quarians. I could be wrong, but either way, doubtful that they have long hair.

If Tali has short hair, is fine.
If Tali has long hair, will be confused, but fine.

I know that, but with my femshep i want to import a fully leveled character to make it a little easier for an insanity playthrough, but i heard the difference between level 59 and level 60 was quite large

Yeah, I still don't have a lvl 60 in ME1. My highest is a lvl 51.

I have an opposite view on the situation, and you happened to make the assumption that most people who share your view make. You think of how uncomfortable hair is to keep in a helmet/suit now. The Mass Effect universe is 200 years in the future, and the quarians are naturally more adept at technology than we are. Now think about a situation where the entire population works together to create something to benefit everyone. Every quarian genius would be working on the suits, and no expense would be spared in making them. If quarians thought hair was beautiful (a likely scenario given the headdress for females,) that would simply be one more alteration to make when designing the suits.
I find it rather ridiculous if they can make super advanced suits that can seal themselves off to contain infection, can hold scavenged parts in seemingly nonexistant pockets, and contain kinetic barriers and everything else, yet they can't accomodate a tiny amount of hair?
