Combination of things.  When I was really little I was unnerved by TVs, so I wonder if maybe it was hitting something really deep-seated.

What sunk the hook in the worst was I was living in an apt at the time, and when I went home after the movie, I could hear the TV on through the door.  It gave me a little chill, but I thought, "oh, it's okay, it's just the wife watching TV."  When I opened the door, I looked in, and my wife was sitting on the floor in front of the TV and she turned and started crawling toward me.  She had black hair and it was long at the time.  I just about sh*t myself right there.

lol! Your description just gave me a slight case of the willies. That awful, unnatural crawling gait creeps me out just about every time I see it in a movie. Such scenes are instantly followed by a mental fantasty of opening concentrated fire upon the being in question and/or a carpet bombing run. Alternatively, at least scream expletives at the undead creature and punch it in the face as it opens its mouth and starts croaking at you! YIIEEEAAAARGH! Come get some b!tch!

movies just dont scare me. maybe when i was a little kid but not for a long while now.

Only one movie has ever scared me. Alien. Never again have I feared movies.

See, that didn't bother me at all.  But Event Horizon?  Slept with the lights on.

Ouh! Nice one! I watched that when I was ca. 17. I had nightmares about the stapled up face of Sam Neil's character leaning over my bed the following three nights as I went to bed. And when I closed my eyes I'd see the opening dream sequence in the movie (i.e. the part with the wife with open, empty eye sockets suddenly breathing down your neck in the cramped air vents).
