Hey Doc, I'm looking for your views on if Quarians have hair?
we all pretty much came to a decision that they do earlier? what do you think?

Will. Not. Speculate.
But is likely. Quarians mammals.
Very likely kept short, however.

I am disappointed Doc. Quarians may be analogous to mammals (although they might not even be that) but calling them mammals doesn't make sense. Asari have mammary glands, yet are apparently hairless. Also, keeping hair short would require regular removal of helmet which would require immuno-booster to be taken. Seems like a large waste of resources to me.

*sighs* Should be more specific?
Suit would NOT be determining factor.
Have only been in suit 327 years. Not enough time for evolutionary change.
And while asari have many characteristics of mammals, technically aren't.

good reason doc :)
my reason was they do because plants can only survive on Rannoch with the help from larger animals, so hair would be very helpful for collecting the pollen, and then either the pollen just falls off, or the quarian shakes hair (of corse this is the slimmed down version of my very logical statement earlier)

Wasn't impyling would evolve to not have hair. Was impyling that they never had hair. Also, what reason is there to think they are mammals other than mammary glands?

Who's to say the suit can't take care of hair grooming needs automatically?  It's sci-fi 200 years in the future.  Go crazy :wizard:

I don't know the details of suit maintenence/repair and everything, but I would assume they have to take their helmets off at some point.  Could handle it then.

And I don't see how waste of resources is a concern.  Do you have any idea how many resources we waste on pointless crap? :pinched:

Not a suit expert, but wouldn't eating and getting rid of bodily waste also involve regular helmet removals?

They have methods of safely eating/disposing of waste built into the suit.  I don't know the methods off hand, I believe they're detailed in Ascension.

The suit takes care of the waste, and there is an input port for food.

Question: Is the weak Quarian immune system an evolutionary trait that developed after they were exiled? Everyone seems to act like it is, but that doesn't seem possible given that they've only been on the fleet for a couple generations. I know their immune systems were'nt that great to begin with, but I don't see a reason why they shouldn't still be suited to their homeworld if they ever return. Obviously adult Quarians who've had no exposure to diseases would be at risk, but the next generation of Quarians should be fine if they grow up there, right?

From my understanding, their immune system is adaptive. If you adapt to nothing, you have to readapt to the climate of where you originaly came from.
Of course I'm me, so don't buy anything with what I said.
Also, VOTE!

No. Was weaker to begin with due to apparant lack of insect life on Rannoch. Diseases developed to be beneficial.
Then during exile, exposure to disease eliminated. Already weaker than normal immune systems suffered.
