Because it wouldn't be a huge disconnect between the player and Shepard from a roleplaying perspective if we could do that <_<

We wouldn't know what Tali looks like before she takes her mask off obviously, but Shepard definitely knows what quarians in general look like.  Why get a sketch from an asari?  Photography and the internet have been around for hundreds of years.  I'm sure there's quarian porn all over the extranet as well.  We're the only ones who don't know what quarians look like

I am sorry but Shepard should win that...

Opinion.  Personally I think Shepard shouldn't be an option in favorite character polls at all, because no one is voting for the same character.  Unless we specify default Shepard appearance, with a set list of choices made in game.  As it stands now, people are voting for "their" Shepard, and totalling the votes against one pre-made character.
