There's Renegade , and there's "I kick cripples and pregnant women" Renegade.
Stabbing a merc scum in the back so he can't finish repairs...renegade, pushing a merc who tells you he's not going to tell you anything even if he has the info out the window is renegade, taking a head shot at a droid when the opportunity presents itself is renegade.... all these are "acceptable".

Betraying Tali, and everyone else because you can't be bothered to do anything for anyone other then yourself, that's not only being a Jerk a-hole "renegade", it is just stupid.

Renegade was fine in ME1. It was about getting the mission done. In me2 being a renegade just means being a ****** for no good reason.

dont agree that much, there are some good renegade choices/lines in me2 too, imo better than the equivalent paragon ones (there are some horrible paragon lines )

the tali/legion renegade line is quite terrible but not all of them are like that... and in me1 there where some bad renegade options too as for example the parasini one on noveria

The thing that gets to me about that is I'll bet Tali acts the exact same way in ME3 whether you're a douchebag or not. I'd like to see her mention the cruelty of Renegade Shepard, cuz at the very least, nobody would serve under 100% Renegade Shepard, if they did they're trying to get close enough to put a shiv in his back.

Agreed. That was my first thought upon discovering that making a tactically sound decision under the circumstances against a non-sapient, non-organic automaton is apparently "Renegade". Rubbish.

Ya, that renegade interupt is barely renegade, more like the intelligent thing to do, but I put it in there to make a point that sometimes being "intelligent" means not playing "nice", and well, playing "nice" can be "Paladin Lawful stupid."
A better example would be Mordin's Loyalty quest when you shoot at the gas tank to burn a mouthy krogan that would rant half the day away if you let him.
He's gonna shoot you anyways, or you him, so why let him have the adavanage of cover and high ground + numbers. Blow the tank, incinerate a Krogan, one less to deal with. Again "smart" thing to do, but not as "clear cut" stupid in classifying that act as "renegade".
