Because i think the more you talk to the characters, the less paragon or renegade you need.
either that or you need to talk to the character a certain amount of you can not make them talk to you.

My source is that fact that i had the same thing happen to me, but with miranda. I had forgot to talk to her befor the fight and even though i have full paragon she would not talk to me <_<

I stopped talking to her after she tried to make renegade sex with me. I declined, but I thought I should leave her for a while. 

For me, i did not talk to her at all, exept for her loyalty quest.

Well, i heard you need 95% renegade or paragon to talk to them, but in my case 100% could not even get her to talk <_<
