I do kind of get the feeling that Tali's dad was the worst admiral, and the quarians are better off with the new guy, whoever it is. It seems like he combines Garrel's intentions of getting the quarians killed in a war, with Xen's insane tests and ruthlessness. I feel sorry for Tali losing her father, but I think the quarians will benefit in the end.
As for quarians in general dying. I didn't care when Prazza died, he brought that on himself. I like quarians, but I don't care about stupidity, no matter what race.
They made the same exact choice Prazza made, they chose to follow a random idiot instead of the person in charge of the expedition (Tali.) The fact that we don't see them acting stupidly doesn't mean they were innocent victims. I will agree that the way they went out was kind of brutal, but they were special forces or whatever, they knew the risks of any mission.
