There is and there isn't... just like KOTOR there is a cannon version and then theres your version.

I don't know of any "canon version" for Mass Effect, unless you count the default ME2 Shep as "canon", which I personally wouldn't consider canon at all. That's just the "Defaultshep" those people who didn't play ME1 will get.
That guy is basically a punishment. Wrex dead, Council dead, nothing accomplished... certainly not the kind of Shepard they should pick as official "canon".

Remember KOTOR? That game had the basics of this game with mutliple choices leading to a differnt path... But there is a canon version.

I like ME2's def shep.. incentive for people to play ME1

This exactly. They even didn't say anything about Shep in the books that could give *any* clue on a canon version of "him". "Him" because the books don't even clarify whether it's a guy or a girl. I doubt they'd change that now.

Nah not default that was them just giving people a chance to play me2 a filler save. More like the obious choices would be cannon. or something. Hard for me to work into words.

But in Kotor2 you didn't play the same character and you didn't import your Kotor1 Savegame (and it was developed by a different developer).

Its mot of the easy choices, ones that don't require a lot of charm/intimidate like wrex on virmire
also anything that references the first game is cut out, no characters, no messages less dialogue options

KOTOR's cannon never really got into Reaven but they mention his/her acts and they only refer to him/her by name only.

There is no canon. (It's "canon" by the way, not "cannon".)
The only things about Shep that you could call "canon" are that he/she becomes the first human Spectre, goes to Noveria/Feros/Therum/Virmire in no particular order, then goes to Ilos and in the end defeats Saren and Sovereign. That's it.
