No it doesn't, considering a gaming PC will still require upgrades, replacement keyboards, etc. And both consoles and PCs have to buy the games.. 

Aye gaming rigs require upgrades, however said upgrades are often years apart. Rather than the console user paying for a game every other month or so, then you got your mic's going dead, or controllers, etc.

I have payed well over three grand on my Xbox alone in roughly 3 and half years of use. That of course is not including the PS3 I had (sold it).

Man, your unlucky.  My 360 has been going for well over 4 years and I never had anything failing.

You either have a huge game library, or treat your Xbox and stuff very poorly... I've never had tor eplace a controller or accessory for my xbox...

But I've had to replace mice, keyboards, headphones several times, etc etc... Not to mention constantly upgrading Ram, video cards, and replacing pieces that break or get burnt out. And the time my monitor died.... 

Whereas my Xbox is still prestine, needs a new bigger HD, but otherwise great. And yes I am an avid console gamer, more so than PC

Bah! That's mostly games and Xbox Live 

I've had only one RROD, I was out of warranty and never even had to pay for it...I still have no idea why...I'll be sure not to tell them though 

Then I had a controller failure from some damn water getting inside it...don't ask...

And I've gone through like 8 mics because I don't shut up...either that or the mic's I buy are total crap

I suppose it varies, there can't possibly be a standard rate of purchases for gaming needs. For instance I have found no need to upgrade keyboards, monitors, mouses, etc. I roll with what I got, I care only about what's on the inside of the rig.

About the Xbox spending spree, it's like 80% games
