Uh...you know in fictional universes (like the Star Wars Universe or the Mass Effect Universe) there are certain events and persons etc. canon. That means, they are official (e.g. everything that happens in the Star Wars movies), but somethings aren't canon (e.g. fanfiction or comics that don't tell the official story etc.). 

If something is canon in ME, it would mean, that that is the official solution, event, person whatever, that the designers choose to build there story on. 

E.g. it could be canon, that Shepard killed the Rachni-Queen on Noveria, while you freed her in your game. In ME books or spin-offs the Queen would assumed dead to have a general basis on which writers could base new story.

The canon discusion was an attempt to get away from the furry topics etc. I was serious in disusing it but was really wanting to get away from those topics. im happy it actually turned into a real topic of serious discusion.

Who here thinks that shep going for Tali would be Cannon? I mean there are so many hints at it and its easy to do.

Isn't one core aspect of the ME-games that there is no real canon? 

There is and there isn't... just like KOTOR there is a cannon version and then theres your version.

I don't know of any "canon version" for Mass Effect, unless you count the default ME2 Shep as "canon", which I personally wouldn't consider canon at all. That's just the "Defaultshep" those people who didn't play ME1 will get.
That guy is basically a punishment. Wrex dead, Council dead, nothing accomplished... certainly not the kind of Shepard they should pick as official "canon".

Wait. Since my imported Shepard apparently has the chance to change which decisions and background he has when travelling in a shuttle with Miranda and Jake for the first time, I'd expect that someone starting ME2 without a transfered character can do the same, no?
