Shepard: It stands for World War 2; it was this large war fought on Earth a couple centuries ago. It's actually interesting you mention it, because during the war a large invasion force landed in a country called France, and the region they landed on was called Normandy; that's where our ship's name comes from.
Tali: Wow, I didn't know that. So the ship is named after a region of a country called "France"?
Shepard: Yes, it is. You know... France has a city called "Paris", which for centuries has held the poetic label of "The city of love" among humans. Maybe I should take you there one day.
Tali: I'd... like that.
