i thinking cerberus has something to do with it. they don't want quarians recolonizing that planet so they destroy the sun.
What? I hope this is a joke post.
Cerberus can't destroy a star--no known race has that kind of technology. The Quarians can't even reclaim Haestrom, it's in Geth territory.
ten what sun is the Illusive Man looking at??

I just can't imagine any known race having that capability. Stars are just so... mind-bogglingly large.
And TIM chills out (lol ironic pun) near a star because it's a cool thing to look at; and it makes his secret base harder to spot (the emissions of a star could mask a small space station pretty well I guess).
LOL in New Jersey?? That place already has a bad rep!

Yeah I've heard that theory before. It's pretty scary, since it basically means that the Reapers are... ultimately the good guys.
That's a scary thought. Like the Reapers are necessary for life to continue....
I don't like that idea.

It seems pretty smart to me. Alien organizations can't really go scouring Earth for him, and I doubt the Alliance has any interest in shutting him down. If they aren't outright supporting Cerberus financially, they certainly aren't trying to shut them down.

Good and bad plays no part in survival. They may be looking out for the continuation of life and of the galaxy, but their method forgoes any shred of morality.

Like the wolves (or whatever they were called) from the Revelation Space series.
The wolves killed to keep life from exhausting the galaxy's resources before the universe is done expanding (or something like that).
Under the "ecological catasptrophy" theory, the Reapers kill to keep mass effect technology users from wrecking all the suns in the galaxy. And they "preserve" worthy races by turning them into Reapers.

Are they? I know there is a thresher maw set up or two, but I get the feeling that Cerberus is a net plus for the Alliance as a whole. Who cares about a few dead soldiers if you can throw a few million credits at an organization and get back some huge scientific breakthrough that will help all of humanity.
I know Cerberus has done some terrorist activities, but their goals seem to be larger than that, with furthering all of humanity.

But I think it'd be pretty cool if like, at the end of ME3 you board a reaper (Harbinger?), and it does something to screw up all the mass effect devices in your party, but instead it ends up powering your biotic amp (remember, even non-biotic Shepard is a [slight] biotic!), and you can rampage through him wiping out everyone with bolts of biotic energy
Note: While typing this, I rolled my chair back and got one of my cat's tails. Ouch. :/
