Interesting. Always seemed you were his errand boy when you shoulda had more
freedom. An exchange went something like "is that a suggestion, or am I
being volunteered" and then TIM hits you with some cold hard logic like
"I brought you back, if you go to Freedom's Progress and don't find
anything, you can go your way" or something. Not sure exactly what he
said. Damn you TIM!
Here added some Shepard lines for fun cuz I hate that he never said anything in those elevators

More at Phil. Shep had no one to reliably go to. TIM let the word get out that Shep had joined Cerberus, without hard proof of Reapers & no support at all Shep at the beginning of the game would be in trouble. Chances are TIM had fail safes that could have been used on the Normandy 2, which are likely disabled by EDI going fully live. That's my crackpot theory anyways.

The problem with the whole situation is that TIM never really tries to control you, so its hard to assume what would happen.  He's actually very helpful, he tells you everything you need to know, and how to do it.  He doesn't forbid you from getting your old team back, just tells you they aren't available. 

I don't think he has any failsafes, its possible, but he seems pretty convinced that Shepard will help him, and for good reason, you're saving a lot of people.  Any attempt at turning on him would likely result in a staring contest.  TIM needs the collectors stopped, and you don't want thousands of people to die.  You both need each other to accomplish your goals, and refusing to work together helps nothing.  The whole thing is more hypothetical for if TIM wanted you to control you from the start. 

I do think Shepard has a better shot without TIM than vice versa though.  Some people know you're Cerberus, but some still see you as a hero as well.  There's also the fact that you're the biggest badass in the galaxy.  If you want to get something done, it will get done.  You could probably recruit a solid team without TIM's help (you would still get Tali as well, I know that's the first place I'd look )   TIM would probably cave in and give you the knowledge you need eventually.

Seriously, though, you can't expect the same level of enthusiasm to keep up months after the release of the game. People move on with their life.

Well, in this game she is a "support character". Only energy drain does direct damage.
People always has problems seeing the usefulness of a support character.

To me, she is the most useful: She gives me a morale boost.

edit: AI Hacking sux anyway.
