Great. I honestly wouldn't like your music if I felt like you just did it for the buck, but I know you enjoy it and just thought that you should be at least making a little something for your well deserved work.The_KFD_Case wrote...

so you you made a decision already?
The plan I'm operating from is to continue composing different pieces of music - some will be based on what sort of inspiration I have at the given moment while others will be more specifically tailored to fit a pre-defined objective (ex. stirring movie-genre tunes are unlikely to be included with electronic/ambient/chill musical genres though one could create pieces that incorporate sounds and instruments from the various camps). Once I have developed a somewhat larger repetoire (I want at least 12-15 pieces on the first album - people should feel that they are getting something solid for their money and not being ripped off, IMO) where the different pieces either tie in to one larger unifying theme or share related sounds/themes/genres either musically and/or storywise I'll have the tracks mastered (or re-mastered), copyrighted through both the "poor man's copyright" method and by contacting a legal firm, ask for a written confirmation from the software producer of the music programs I use that their advertisement of "royalty free" music/sounds is in fact just that and that there are no hidden caveats waiting to bite me in the backside at a later date. Then I'll contact one or several of the aforementioned digital distribution outlets we touched upon earlier, pay the relevant fees and see how well my music sells (or doesn't) over time.
While the dream scenario would be to eventually do well enough with the music so as to take it from a hobby to a full-time profession, I've been through enough things in life to realise that there is good reason to maintain a "plan B" vocation as the main bread-winning profession until such a time as the hobby reaches critical mass. If that doesn't happen I'll still have pursued a long time dream of mine, enjoyed the artistic process of creating music and knowing that at least some others enjoyed the fruits of my labour as well. That's quite satisfying and rewarding in its own right to me.Regardless of how things turn out I will adhere to these two fundamental themes:
1) I'll keep doing it as long as I enjoy it (sure, there may be some days where one's feeling under the weather but that's not the same as experiencing a chronic case of "the mondays").
2) Whatever I release will have to be something I'm personally satisfied with and not just put out there for the prospect of scoring a quick buck. Yes, I would like to make money of my work and it will be part of the larger decision process but it should not be the only factor nor the only major factor where it pertains to artistic personal endeavours in my opinion. If I'm not satisfied that any given piece meets a certain personal standard of mine I'd rather put it on a shelf and return to it later than release it prematurely.

The card games sucked, the show was terrible..
But the Gameboy games and movies rocked my socks!

I don't have to pretend, I REALLY don't like Pokemon and I was far too old when the franchise came out to be sucked in.
The last kind of this "made to rip off children"-franchises I watched was the first seasons of Power Rangers elven or twelve years ago.

All those 1st edition holo-cards....
I remember how me and my brother immediately went to the shop after getting pocket money.
You payed over 1 buck per card, it was sick man...
We kids were dumb as hell giving all our money for those cards, but i don´t regret the experience.
