I have a feeling a lot of it was just the marketing people.

Miranda is hot, modeled and voice by a lovely actress, etc. You can throw her on TV, and bam, she instantly appeals to 18-35 males, the core demographic of the game. Tali has a great body, but to most people who aren't already familiar with her, she just won't appeal at quite the same level as Miranda. Basically, Miranda is very marketable. 

But yeah, it is awesome how Tali utterly flew past Miranda, and all other LIs, in ME2. That Newsvine poll makes me really happy. Her winning all polls here on the bioware forums is one thing, but winning at a news website--which taps into a much larger pool of people--is just awesome.

Wow! That second one is a seriously nice interpretation of Tali! It reminds me of kind of a cross between a night elf and a mermaid....hmm maybe it's the background, lol!

That's not dirty! Well, at least not in the context she said it, in-game. 

It could be dirty though. Something like:

Shepard: Hey Tali, I couldn't help notice bottles of antibiotics and herbal supplements on my desk. Are you suggesting something? 

Tali: What could I possibly be suggesting...?

do you think they could do that for all of the LI?... if so how pissed off are you getting right now at the thought of some one just using tali for sex!!!

Extremely. I strongly disapprove of simply using someone for sex. But in Tali's case it's magnified hundreds of times by two facts: First, and most important, it's a genuine risk to her life. Secondly, it's especially cruel to do that to someone who's in a "first love" stage.

It doesn't fit into the storyline in any real way though.  Jack's made sense because of her casual views towards sex.  Tali literally can't have sex with you until the Omega 4 relay.  Sex isn't a casual act for her, so something like that would require Shep going through the whole romance dialogue not meaning anything, and lying to score.  Basically, it won't be in ME3, and it doesn't make sense in ME2.

Well Jack had it all the time it was casual for her. She gave you the option because it was a test to see if your dude was actually wanting a relationship or just in it for the sex.

With Tali i dont think Tali would ever do that. and i dont get how someone could just use Tali for that i want a relationship with Tali not just sex but i see what you are saying. I dont know if that would work or not but who knows

Well Jack had it all the time it was casual for her. She gave you the option because it was a test to see if your dude was actually wanting a relationship or just in it for the sex.

It helped explain her mind set a little better.  It showed her casual attitude towards sex first hand, and more importantly, it gives Shepard an opportunity to prove that his words are genuine.  Jack suspects he's just talking crap to score, like all other men in her life, and she basically tests him the only way she knows how.

Yeah this, I'm not saying that it would be impossible to manipulate her into loving you, just that it's such a horrible thing to do that it won't ever be in the ME series. 

Don't worry about it happening.  There is a huge difference between Jack's renegade romance and what anyone else's would be like.

i just think if you have a the chance to screw up with jack.. then why not the other LI's

dont hold it above renegade shep.. the only thing they have not given him so far is lust.. which is not far off from where he is now

Because not all of the LIs are the same.  That's why its great.  A relationship with Tali, a young quarian with genuine feelings for you to start with is nothing like a hardened murderer who hates everything.  It would make no sense at all if they followed the same romance arc.

While on the subject, while I've only played paragon, from what I've observed from some videos and some save/load exploring, is that a lot of his renegade options when talking to Tali aren't even... renegade (not counting rejections of course). He almost seems like... an overprotective boyfriend or something.
