Because fighting rises the amount of hate wich in return our emotion based gods feeds from.  In return, they give us ruinous powers so we can continue to teer eachother apart so the hate gets worse then before.

Well, its actually true to the thousand sons wich tried to warn the emperor that Horrus was going to betray him, how does the Emperor answer these claims?  Sends in the space wolves to wipe them out.

Of course, on the brink of being wiped out they give in to Tzeentch to survive, thus there redish armor became blue...

Its like not destroying the reaper base in ME2. Trying to do good yes, but at what cost?
Besides, I'll bet that Tzneetch had a hand in their destruction

He has a hand in everything.  He probably planned everything that is happening and is rumored to have influenced the Tau to become what they are.  The changer of ways makes things happen.

Besides, being betrayed by the emperor or not, I would still follow the Dark Gods.
