Actually, one guy seemed to believe that Wrex was only a cameo in ME2 instead of a squadmember, because Tali was more popular. That's why he's hating on the Tali thread and her fans.

There are numerous reasons.  The main one being is that her personality is extremely well received by pretty much everyone.  She's caring, and extremely nice to everyone that deserves kindness, yet is still strong enough to stand up for herself when the time comes.  She's a strong independent person, yet adorably melts around Shepard.  She's also completely selfless.

She comes from a situation where it would be perfectly understandable for her to take her frustrations out on the people around her.  Her people, and her individually, are treated like second class citizens and discriminated against because of acts of their ancestors.  They live with hardships that no one else has to live with their immune systems, yet she is just as bubbly and sweet as anyone else in the galaxy.  You can see the effects that the situation has had on her, she pretty much thinks its impossible for Shepard to ever have feelings for her, despite how fantastic of a person she is.  She doesn't let it show, but it does seem like she thinks less of herself because of the constant hate towards her and her people. 

We never get to see her face, but that just lets the player focus more on her personality.  It also doesn't hurt that the concrete stuff with her body and voice are very attractive as well. 

You can't underestimate the familiarity factor as well.  Garrus's popularity spiked as well with him returning in ME2. 

She's just a very attractive character overall, physically and personality wise.  I can see where it would be surprising at first that people would pick an alien who's face you can't see over a perfect human, or others, but I think most people would love to find someone like Tali in real life.  I was surprised at first as well to see how many fans she has, but she just has so many things that people love about her.

Before finding this forum I thought I was probably the only guy who liked Tali and wanted her as a LI.

Tali is all of those things that most of us are looking for in a long-term relationship: kindness, strength, humility, a sense of humor,and physical beauty.

I think one of the reasons she's become so popular is acutely because we can't see her face. For that reason we have all decided what she looks like based on what our own personal idea of what beauty is.

Seriously, is there some kind of award we can give BioWare for creating one of the greatest characters in video game history?

I like Tali a lot, but like many others, I am having difficulties seeing what would drive even loyal fans to create a thread that is nearly 5000 pages in length. There is currently a thread started about the "Tali thread phenomenon", why it is so long. Please believe me...I'm just very curious. I've been at this internet thingie a long time, and a member of lots of boards...and until now, I think about 160 pages was the longest I've seen. What is is about Tali'Zorah that would inspire this kind of devotion? I mean no disrespect here. I am sincerely curious and eagerly await any serious replies in that thread.

Unfortunately that thread already has its fair share of "haters" who I thought were just posting because they need to vent their anger, hate or fear of something they don't understand.

For example, someone mentioned our thread posting nothing but bad artwork, how is this :



"bad artwork" I have to ask. Perhaps they can do better?

Or perhaps they are simply jealous that their own fan art had never been picked up by other gaming blogs and featured :

Also, I believe that every one of us has tried all the romance possibilities from Kelly and her stripper dance in your room, Jack who becomes emotionally attached and relatively stable because of Shepard and of course Miranda. I don't really have much to say about Miranda simply because she's just way too much like an ex of mine.

Tali's character, however had the perfect mix of innocence and streetwise, she's has a much better body shape then any of the other LIs, Jack a little "boyish" while Miranda's just a little over exaggerated.
The most important reason for me though, from both a gaming stand point and from a personal perspective is that Tali is the ONLY person other then Garrus to have stayed true to you from ME1. Both Liarra and Ashley abandoned you in one form or another. Liarra could not give up her need for revenge, while Ashley refused to see reason or beyond that Cerberus badge and cite you as a traitor even after you just saved her and half the colony on Horizon. 

Tali on the other hand, showed her feelings when you first met her . I am sure by this time a "shoot on sight" order has been given to any Quarian in regards to any Cerberus agents, which the other Quarians were more then willing to carry out if not for Tali. She saw *you*, Shepard come back from the dead with Cerberus and her first reaction was...to find out if it was really you and then she gave you her trust. What more needs to be said?
