I totally deserve that.  Not usually a crier (even as a little kid), but that got me.

Luckily, I've got a few extra man cards from past acts of masculinity.

No, sir, you did NOT deserve that. You're not the first to say that the fic made you cry.
Seriously, thanks for reading and enjoying it.

Heh.  They call it phishing for a reason: "mmm... tasty bait in front of my face..." *chomp* "aaaah, why's there a hook stuck in my jaw?"
That's quite a lot of money too.  Do you think your friend will learn from this experience?

Also: Tali Unmasked!

i really hope so cause he's stuck up and makes fun of me for liking tali.Image IPB

Quick question, how many people here consider themselves huge nerds and how many are in denial?

I wonder how this would all go along if all the threads had equal support, maybe people would be a lot more empathetic to each other.

Sometimes I regret joining this forum.

There would always be animosity between fans of each character.  Some people have serious cases of us against them syndrome.  Anyone that doesn't like their character is an enemy.  There would be less hate on Tali specifically most likely, but there would be plenty of hate still.  Its never a good idea to judge by the lowest common denominator, it just leaves you doubting humanity in the end.

It really isn't that bad though.  The longer I'm here, the more I realize how low the percentage is of people who hate.  We tend to exaggerate because we see the three trolls, and not the 50 people that stay in their thread, and respect Tali as a character, but don't like her as much as we do.

It's very distressing to me. I've recently taken up reading on anthropology and seeing a group I'm a part of demonized by others just for the support we give, it really leaves me disappointed in people. Many do not care, so they tend to leave us alone, that's fine, no harm done, but some take it upon themselves to paint us so negatively that others actually do start to believe them. Many really have no real issue with the subject at hand, Tali, but they disrespect us, just for being in a rally.

All of us, and I mean all of us on this forum, we can really be a very strong community. Mass Effect is a great game series, most here would agree to that, and we all respect and love Bioware for their great works. But seeing this fandom splintered by factions for certain characters, many alienating each other out of taste in characters rather than something else more credible disappoints me. It sorely disappoints me.

I'm very bitter and cynical about many things, I tend to dislike the adorable things, but this was an exception. I just think it would be nice if we, Mass Effect fans, just co-existed and actually behaved like a real community. Lest we become like those irredeemable Twilight fans.

She was getting to that but Shepard cut her off before her cutebabble could get quite that far.  Pity, I could listen to that all day.
Hmm, a precision-jumping mini-Normandy with LAZORZ and video would be a pretty sweet DLC.

I regularly buy and wear tshirts from Think Geek and my job title is "hydrological software developer".  Watching sci-fi shows such as Stargate Universe and Sanctuary in a group, or playing Mass Effect with friends watching IS social interaction.

Good to see that we are all up fornt about it.

As for me:
I collect warhammer 40k miniatures
I can tell you all about the Pzkwpf V Panther Tanks
I spend most of my days either here or gaming
and I'm in love with a fictional character:wub:

Oh, I'm 100% nerd-core. I decided long ago that I needed to just accept the person that I was or I was never going to be happy.
