they fought over who would control the wasteland, not the poison, eden gave you the poison

What are you talking about?  Autumn wanted to form an empire of sorts with the help of the purifier, Eden wanted to poison it so it killed off all mutation.  Eden gave YOU, the player, the toxin.  Autumn had no clue Eden still wanted to poison it.
