I'd say death is a pretty definitive way of breaking up.

That's almost certainly going to be an option in ME3...
...and the way I figure it they probably moved on anyway.

Liara seemed to move on. Kaiden/Ashley... not so much. Am considering cheating playthrough. May not though. Too against faithful nature.
