 Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who played it, but in the early 2000s there was an Indie PC game called "Treadmarks" that revolved around tank-racing/combat. Its unique feature was deformable terrain. Explosions left holes and whatnot. 

Now, the game had nuclear weapons--which would leave MASSIVE holes. But what was really funny is there was also an "anti-nuke" weapon, where instead of creating a hole, created a big hill. It was skinned with all kinds of hippie-ish colors, peace symbols, etc. 

The prospect of a Tali image bomb kinda reminded me of that...since it's like, an explosive version of something positive.

the DOS game Scorched Earth had something similar. and pocket tanks also has dirt bombs
