Do you have a specific reason why you're replaying it, or just for fun?
I myself am doing a romanceless playthrough this time around, for Tali. And to escape the complications we might get for "cheating" on our ME1 LI.
Same reason as you, the only save i had before was with Liara and it would be good to avoid a possible shotgun vs biotics fight in ME3, i could download a save but it feels better to do it myself

Heh, escape? I specifically went back and romanced Ashley to create complications. Drama is fun.
Can't hurt to have a romanceless save though, in case the complications/drama end up being no fun at all. Better safe than sorry.
After replaying ME1, I'll enjoy ME2 even more anyways... SO looking forward to switching from my level 60 guy on Easy to a level 5 guy in Insanity.
And the new combat system... wonderful. The only pain will be that I can't have Tali from the start in ME2.

Yeah, I'm on Xbox so I couldn't download, but even if I had the option, I'd rather do it myself. I wouldn't even cheat my resources or something... the only thing I'd make use of, at least on some playthroughs, would be cheating Tali into my squad right after Freedom's Progress.

Alright, time for me to continue my ME1 playthrough. At least I have Tali.
That's what I'll do now, too. Time to save the Rachni Queen!
Already saved her myself, but I still have to go to Feros, Virmire and dozens of uncharted worlds for sidequests. The pain!
Good to see i'm not the only one crazy enough to be replaying ME1 again, Only Virmire and every side quest left
and to stay on topic - the most heart stopping moment in ME2

I also have a shotgun, y'know
Btw, that picture is pretty heart stopping. Unfortunately, I've also seen this (Warning, not for the faint hearted!)
Am I the only one who sent Tali back with Chawkwas and the crew on the first playthrough, because I was afraid she could get hurt deeper inside the base?
Tis not my "canon" playthrough anyway, since I also lost Thane and Mordin that time around... And in the "real" one I got Tali by my side till the end, catching one another in the proper places

Indeed, never got level 60. Couldn't suffer through the same class back to back full playthroughs to hit that.
I'll keep my romanceless playthrough around too, but I doubt a true romance will be as fun. Never know though, I'll definitely have to try it once eventually for ME3....but thats a long ways off.

Didn't click your link, I certainly couldn't bear seeing Tali die, and I assume that's what your link provides.
To answer your question, I myself sent Garrus back with the crew and kept Tali by my side, I figured I'm a better protection for her than a scripted event that I might have no control over.
I didn't send her into the tunnels either, good thing I didn't give Legion to Cerberus.

Most likely, the consequences for "cheating" won't be so severe anyways. But since I also like Liara, it's easier to not romance her in the first place than to dump her afterwards.
I haven't yet quite decided who I'm going to leave behind on Virmire though. I usually leave Kaidan behind, but looking as to how I already did that on my other playthrough, I could leave Ashley this time and would eventually, in ME3, see if there's any difference between them.

I always put her in the Tunnels.
1. More voice time for Liz Sroka
2. More motivation for me to kill Collectors asap.
3. I like the trust thing between her more then with Legion.
My first playthrough I caught her during the repear fight and she helped me up. I had wondered if they were perhaps artifically killing her during that scene and the ruble scene. Made it impacting, if Jacob had been the one who I saved it would of been significantly less dramatic.
Took 4 more playthroughs before I caught her again, seems to be purely random after testing it.
And yeah, I would feel bad at romancing Liara and dropping her after what she went through to save me, even if she more or less ignores the relationship in ME2.
Ashley flat out distrusts me, the last thing someone you love is supposed to do. Makes it easy to move on.

First time i sent her with the doctor, also didn't send Tali in the tubes and Mordin died so after the boss fight i reloaded the start of the mission, sent Tali to the vents and left her with me in all the other sections

Hmm, maybe I'll send her through the tunnels next time. Even on Insanity the time limit didn't give me much trouble... what if one fails at opening the valves in time? Is there a death scene, or just "Critical Mission Failure"?
On my first playthrough I caught Samara instead of Tali. I like Samara too, but of course catching Tali would've been more epic. I got lucky to have that happening on my Insanity playthrough after that.
And yeah, the Horizon scene was a little bit cheap. Hey, I'm Shepard, and killing Reapers is my favorite hobby. I was always full Paragon. How can you possibly *not* trust me? I've more awesome in my pinky than the Council together!

If you have Miranda and Tali in your party there is a 90% chance that Tali will be the one who slides down ( the one who gives you the bomb is always the one who falls, and since Miranda is the one projecting the Illusive man's image she will most likely not be the one with the bomb) .
Taking that screenshot i posted earlier took me five reloads and it was always Tali who was sliding, also it could possibly have something to do with the order in which you pick your squad for the last part of the mission but i'm not sure about that

I'm fairly certain it's a mission failure, as if she fails to get through she can't open the fire team door, and they can't cover her to open your door.
I could be wrong...i've never failed the time limit, even on insanity.
Oh and her 2nd to last warning dialogue is extreamly distressing sounding. Good stuff Liz Sroka, wish she were a bigger voice name like Kath Soucie, Jennifer Hale, Tara Strong, and Grey DeLise.

Took miranda with me twice
She gave me the bomb both times and I saved her both times and she helped me up both times, she even omni tooled TIM
in my latest playthrough I took samara with me
Tali Omnitool'd TIM, Samara gave me the bomb, and I saved tali and Tali helped me up.
My first time I took Jacob, and Tali did everything.
After saving miranda twice, i tried to replicate the original and took jacob again.
Jacob did everything but helped me up the ship.
It's pretty random as far as I can tell.

Indeed, and I hope I put it clear enough so no-one doesn't click the link accidently. I confess at times I become too curious, which can lead to some haunting memories.
As for sending Tali back, I did spend a lot of time thinking about what's safer for her. The first time, I decided that sending her back through an area presumably recently cleared of the most collectors would be safer than taking her on a probably suicidal venture deep into unknown.
And I figured with Harbingers obsession about SHepard, he'd throw just about everyone he had at him and the fire team who actually threatened him at the time.
But yeah, I admit I didn't get it right. I also overestimated Thane's leadership abilities back then
EDIT: and this all kind of calls for a new joint ME1-ME2 playthrough with Tali in my heart and by my side all the possible time...

Interesting. For me, I saved Tali, she helped me up, gave me the bomb, but Samara did the Omnitooling. I guess on my last playthrough before ME3 I'll reload as long as it takes to get the same result again.

That definitely happens - she does return the the fleet. But she comes back to join you in ME2.
Nothing can keep Shep and Tali apart.

If you help her with her pilgrimage it only adds more dialogue in at Freedom's Progress when you meet her.

You either help her complete her pilgrimage, or you force her to eventually leave you to do it herself.
You get less appreciative dialogues on Freedom Progress if you don't help her pilgrimage.
So if you're a Tali fan, you're better off just youtubeing the differences.

I was lucky enough to get everyone out alive on my first playthrough, and I'll stick with exactly the same plan for all my future playthroughs. Haven't seen a single death scene yet, and although I'm a very curious, I don't wish to see them. Ever, I guess.
Even my Renegade will be keen on getting everyone out alive, there's a limit to how much jackass I can force myself to be.
